Mr. and Mrs. Luther Nabors and family of Laurens, were din ner guests on Thanksgiving of Mr. and Mrs. Carson Nabors. Larry Murphy, a senior at Clemson, spent Thanksgiving with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Murphy. Mrs. John Burnett, Jr., and son. Dennis Craig, spent Thanks giving week-end with her mother, Mrs. Ira Mae Collins, in Atlanta, Ga. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Mike Minick. S/Sgt and Mrs. Lester Sweat are making their home at Camp Lejeune. Jacksonville, N. C., where he is now stationed. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Lanford and Gloria were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs J C. Foster in Woodruff Rev. and Mrs. Hugh Pollard attended the wedding Saturday evening of the former's nephew. Kenneth Lockman. and Miss Wanda Cudd at the home of the bride in Spartanburg. On Thanks giving day they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs E E Lockman in Columbia Mr. and Mrs David Grogan and children, Linda, Sherry and David, Jr., spent Thanksgiving holidays with Mr and Mrs L. H Poag. Mr. and Mrs. S. A league were week-end visitors of Mrs. V. M. Coker in Easley, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Davis in Fair Play. Ronnie Passmore, who was working in HuntsvUle, Ala., has been visiting his parents for ten days He will report to the draft board in Laurens Thursday, where he will get his assignment for two years duty in the U. S. Army. Miss Patricia Childs of Greenville, spent the week-end with the Passmore family. A2C and Mrs. C. B. Cole, Jr., Cindy and Susan of Charleston! spent several days recently with his parents, Mr and Mrs. C, B Cole, Sr. Mrs Jerry Pitts of Charlotte. N. C., spent several days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil O dell Mr Pitts joined her on Thursday. Mr and Mrs. C. L. Higginboth am and J. C. Higginbotham of Anderson, were Sunday visitors of Mrs. Cancie Brown Mrs. Pearl Williams was a Fri day visitor in Newberry. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bridges and daughter, Judy, of Ninety Six, were recent Sunday visitors of Mrs J. D. O’Dell. Mr and Mrs. W. K. Waits were Friday overnight visitors in Greenville. Sunday dinner guests of the Waits family were Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Waits, Miss Lin da Waits, Mrs. Gene Waits and children, Dannie and Jennie, of Spartanburg. Mr. and Mrs Arthur Adams, Mr and Mrs. Beaugh Bundrick of Columbia, visited Mr and Mrs John I. Moore and Mrs. Ruth Thomas Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bragg and children of Aiken, spent Thanks giving week-end with his parents, Mr and Mrs. Fred Bragg. Mrs. L. L. Simpson celebrated her 77th birthday on Friday, No vember 25. Mr. and Mrs. John I Moore and sons, Dickie and Johnnie, spent the Thanksgiving holidavs with Dr and Mrs. T M Moore in Rembert. WITH THE SICK W. D. Goss is seriously ill at Self Memorial hospital in Green wood Mrs. Helen Waits is recuperat ing at home following surgery at the local hospital. S. P. Moore is a patient at the local hospital for treatment. Mrs. Dianne Webb is a patient at the local hospital undergoing treatment. Mrs. IJJa Phillips is recuperat ing at home following a stay and treatment at the local hos pital Mrs. Frances Douglas is recup erating at home following treat ment at the local hospital. Mrs. Emma Higginbotham is ill at the Poole rest home in Clinton. Little Michael Smith has mumps. Mrs. Virginia McCarson has been discharged from the local hospital where she received treat ment. TO SPONSOR CHICKEN STEW The Joanna Teenage Club will sponsor a chicken stew Friday, December 1, at the Joanna club house. The stew will be ready to sell at 4:00 o’clock. Mrs. Frances Warner and Mrs. Kathleen League, counselors of the club, will assist with the sale. The price will be 90c per quart. WSCS TO MEET The Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service of Epworth Metho dist Church, will hold the Decem ber meeting on Tuesday evening, the 5th. at 7:00 p. m. in the edu cational building of the church. Hostesses for the meeting will be Mrs Herbert Thomas, Mrs. Pearl Williams and Mrs Hubert Godfrey. VISITING IN TEXAS Mrs. Grover Nabors is visiting her sons and families, the Oran Nabors, Dr. Cooley Nabors in Dallas, Texas, for two weeks Mrs. Nabors accompanied the Rev. and Mrs. James Mitchell to Dallas, where they are attending the Southern Baptist Convention BIRTHDAY PARTY GIVEN Little Martin Bozard. son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Bozard, cele brated his 4th birthday Saturday with a party at his home. The youngsters enjoyed party games on the lawn. Favors pre sented the little guests were party hats and balloons. The birthday cake was decorat ed with cowboy designs and four candles. The hostess, assisted by Mrs. Helen Bozard. served the group refreshments consisting of ice cream, cookies and drinks. Mar tin was remembered with many gifts. Mrs Vaughn is the former Miss Annette Taylor. vSease Mr and Mrs. Bill Sease of Clinton, announce the birth of a daughter, Cheryl Elisa, on No vember 22 at the local hospital. Mrs. Sease is the former iflaa Dawn Campbell. Mrs. John Hazle Laurens — Mrs. Janie Franks Hazle. 84, widow of John Hazle, died at 7:45 p. m. last Tuesday at the Laurens hospital after 12 months of illness. She had Jived at 18 Camp Street and was a member of Lucas Ave nue Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons. Frank land Hugh Hazle, both of Lau rens; and Lewis Hazle of Green ville: three daughters, Mrs. G. G. Sumeral and Mrs. Mamie Ly ons, both of Laurens; and Mrs. J. Rufus Satterfield of Barksdale; 21 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conduct- ed at 3:00 p. m., Thursday, at Lucas Avenue Baptist Church by Rev. Alvin Boone. Rev. Floyd Hellams, and Rev. Robert vScroggs. Burial was in Warrior Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
