Crificol Forest Fire
Weather To Continue
Critical forest fire weather con
tinues as long-range weather fore
casts give little hope of rain for
at least another month, accord
ing to Tom Hill, Laurens County
Hanger of the South Carolina
State Commission of Forestry.
Predictions are that dry cold
fronts, frost, and increasing
winds will make for explosive
forest lire conditions well into
December The occasional pre
dictions of "scattered showers"
will not help much and should
not be interpreted as relief from
(lie critical situation. Ranger Hill
said
Extreme caution should be ex
ercised by anyone using fire in
any form Citizens living in or
passing through rural areas
should refrain fro m burning
trash, brush, and field, or build
ing camp or warming fires. Mo
torists should in every instance
use the c ar ash tray when dispos
mg of matches and cigarettes.
Only constant care in the use
of fire by all citizens of South
( arolina can prevent serious
damage to valuable forests that
mean so much to the life and
health of everyone, Hill said
