Leonard, of Reidville, visited Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bigbee Sunday. Rachel Ann Lyda, of Joanna, ■pent last week with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bigbee. Mr. and Mrs. Millard Murphy and Mrs. Louise Cole, of Jo anna, and Mrs. Claude Farmer visited Bascombe Hembree, of Lanford, who was ill at his home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Atkins, of Joanna, visited Mr. and Mrs. Claude Farmer Friday. Mrs. Ruth McAdams, of Pied mont, spent Sunday with her sis ter and brother-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Loais Butler. Mrs. James Dunaway, Arthur and Lindy Dunaway were dinner 1 guests of Mr. and Mrs Ray Fowler in Augusta, Ga , Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Japart! and children, Mr. and Mrs. Geo Cato and son, Larry, visited Mr and Mrs. Malcolm McSwain in Laurens Sunday. BM-2 Paul C. Arnold, of San Diego, Calif,, is spending three weeks with his parents, Mr and Mrs. J. L. Arnold Mr. and Mrs. J. F Hanks and daughter, Ronda, of Cornelia, Ga., spent several ddys last week with Mrs. Hanks' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Caughman. Mrs. Fern Hardman was call ed to Muskogee, Okla., recently due to the illness of her son. Paul Hardman. Mr. and Mrs Richard Pratt and children, of Camden, N. J., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs Fred Tumblin. Saturday night Judy Laney at tended the Furman-Shelby foot ball game at Shelby, N\ C., with Mr and Mrs. Hall King. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Laney and daughter, Judy, and Phillip King ; attended the christening of their little grandson, Robby Laney, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lan-1 ey, at Shiloh Methodist Church near Gray Court recently. James j Laney joined the church in the' same service Sales And Earnings Of Winn-Dixie Stores Are Highest On Record Net sales and earnings of Winn Dixie Stores, Inc., which operates £3ti super-markets in this section and throughout the southeast, were the highest on record during the fiscal year ended July 1, it! was announced in the annual re- |K>rt to stockholders. An increase of 7.92 per cent in net earnings over the previous year was attained, and a 6.31 per cent increase was recorded in sales, President A. D. Davis and Board Chairman James E. Davis reported. Total sales of Winn-Dixie for the fiscal year (53 weeks) were $767,034,880 compared with $721,- 532,377 for the preceding year. The company has shown an in crease in sales for 27 consecutive years and continues to rank sev enth in annual sales volume in the chain food store industry. Mrs. Rose Thomas is ill at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ott Thom as. CLUB WOMEN MEET The Woman’s Club of Clinton Mill met at the Community Build ing Sept. 21. A covered dish sup per was served. Mrs. Arzo Ives- ter, president, welcomed the large number of ladies present for the occasion. After supper was served, Mrs. Grace Cannon entertained the group with a program of songs and dances by children from Bai ley school. An installation service was con ducted for the new officers, with emphasis on loyalty and faithful ness to duty. Lighted candles were presented the new officers as they pledged themselves to be lights of service in the community.
