Sales And Earnings
Of Winn-Dixie Stores
Are Highest On Record
Net sales and earnings of Winn
Dixie Stores, Inc., which operates
£3ti super-markets in this section
and throughout the southeast,
were the highest on record during
the fiscal year ended July 1, it!
was announced in the annual re-
|K>rt to stockholders.
An increase of 7.92 per cent in
net earnings over the previous
year was attained, and a 6.31 per
cent increase was recorded in
sales, President A. D. Davis and
Board Chairman James E. Davis
reported.
Total sales of Winn-Dixie for
the fiscal year (53 weeks) were
$767,034,880 compared with $721,-
532,377 for the preceding year.
The company has shown an in
crease in sales for 27 consecutive
years and continues to rank sev
enth in annual sales volume in the
chain food store industry.
Net earnings after taxes were
$17,050,589, or $1 34 per common
share compared with $1 25 for

CLUB WOMEN MEET
The Woman’s Club of Clinton
Mill met at the Community Build
ing Sept. 21. A covered dish sup
per was served. Mrs. Arzo Ives-
ter, president, welcomed the large
number of ladies present for the
occasion.
After supper was served, Mrs.
Grace Cannon entertained the
group with a program of songs
and dances by children from Bai
ley school.
An installation service was con
ducted for the new officers, with
emphasis on loyalty and faithful
ness to duty. Lighted candles were
presented the new officers as they
pledged themselves to be lights of
service in the community.
