firm of from $1,547 to $820. and
as of Thursday morning, even
this cut amount had not as yet

”1 don’t feel that taxpayers of
Laurens County should have to
pav increased taxes to repay loan
money and interest when an hon
est effort to collect delinquent
taxes would provide sufficient
revenue to carry this county on
without borrowing ot more mon

should he, regardless of whom he
might tie, he added

Elephant Hunt
In Clinton Area

to elephant hunts'
Tor that’s exactly what hap
pened last Thursday morning
near the ( VV. Anderson cattle
farm on the Spartanburg high
wav. And the hunters spent a
busy two hours in a frantic
search tracking down and cor
raling their prey.
The Al G. Kelly and Miller
Bros. Circus filled an engage
ment in Clinton last Wednes
day night. While moving on
Thursday morning, one of the
trucks pulled too far off the
highway and got stuck The
elephant was brought in to
help pull the vehicle out of the
ditch and was returning to its
transport truck when some
horses came on the scene. The
elephant became frightened and
bolted, throwing the rider to the
ground and disappeared in
nearby woods.
The search ended happily for
anxious circus personnel when
trainers took the animal in tow
—and the caravan continued

with much new equipment in

production quality and work

tables, new machinery in the
sewing department, steam finish
ers, and new folding tables Stan
dardized sewing procedures
