Smith, of New berry, at Ocean Drive Beach. Miss Florence Blakely of Dur ham, N. C., spent several days last week with her aunt, Miss Iona Blakely, and uncle, AJdine Blakely. NEW YORK TRIP Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Adair and sons, Duck and Jim, have return ed from a ten-day vacation trip. They were guests of the former’s sister, Mrs. C. D. Griggs, and Mr. Griggs in Arlington, Va., and of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Milam in Ridgewood, N. J. While there they toured New York City and points of interest nearby. Miss Louise Buford was a re cent visitor with her brother, An sel Buford, and family in Lafay ette, Ala , going especially to at tend the wedding of her nephew, James Buford, to Betty McCullar of Auburn, Ala. Dr. and Mrs. John McSween will be in Rock Hill on Sunday where he will be guest ^minister at the Oakland 'Avenue Presby terian Church Friends of James H. Watts, Sr., will be interested to know he is convalescing at home following an operation and two weeks stay at the Spartanburg General hos pital Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lawson, Misses Ellen Lawson and Bar bara Anderson are vacationing this week at Ocean Drive Beach. Mr. and Mrs. James G. Monroe and daughter, Miss Libby Mon roe, of Latta, visited relatives here the past week-end. They were accompanied by Miss Gale Plyler of Lancaster and were joined here by Lt. James G. Monroe, Jr., of Fort Gordon, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Buford were guests last week of the for mer’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ansel Buford, in Lafayette, Ala. , Mr. and Mrs. William F. Hasel- den and little son, BUI, of Rock ingham. N. C., spent the week-end with Mrs. Haselden’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Burts. Also a guest of the Burts during the weekend was her sister, Mrs. P. M. Myers of Spartanburg. FROM MISSISSIPPI Mrs. J. Maury Gandy of Hat tiesburg, Miss., and her daughter. Miss Bertha Gandy of Jackson. Miss., were visitors the past week in the home of the Mississippi Youngs Mr. and Mrs. William E. Rob inson of Pine Hill, N. ' Mrs. W. H. Lewis and Mrs. K. O. Rinehart, of Pinewood, were recent guests for several weeks with their sister, Mrs. R. M. League. While here they were visitors in Asheville and at Mt^ Mitchell. N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Black spent the wee/.end at Myrtle Beach. COMPLETES TRAINING Capt. Benjamin F. Ivey has completed training at the special forces warfare center, Fort Bragg, N. C., and has joined his family here at the home of Mrs. Ivey’s mother, Mrs. Robert Wy- sor. At the end of his leave they will go to Badtolz, Germany. They leave tomorrow to spend the week-end in Kinston, N. C., with her sister, Mrs. John B. Jordan and Mr. Jordan Mrs. B Hubert Boyd and daughter. Miss Corinne Boyd, are vacationing this week at Pawley's Island. Mrs. Copeland Blackwell of Greenwood, is the guest of Mrs. Frank Miller for a few days. Miss Murray Addison will re turn today from a visit with her grandmother, Mrs. H H. Harris, in Columbia. ON VACATION Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Orr, Jr., and family were vacation visitors a few days last week at Myrtle Beach. The latter part of the week they were accompanied by Mr. Orr’s parents of Richburg, to Jefferson City, Tenn , where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. La mar Orr and sons. Mrs. Metta Stone is visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. W. Q. Grigg, in Kan napolis, N. C. Miss Shirley MiUer of Lake- view, was the week-end guest of Mrs. Frank E. Miller. Friends of Miss MiUer, who was a member of the city schools faculty last year, will be interested to know she will go to Annapolis, Md., where she will teach at Glen Burnie School. She was accom panied here by Mrs. Miller’s granddaughter, Susie Felknor, of ! Camden. WINS CANADIAN TRIP NEW RESIDENTS Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Cardwell, formerly of WhiteviUe, N. C. t are now making their home here at 006 Hickory Street. Mr. CardweU is foreman of the cutting room at Hallmark Shirt Company. Their -daughter, Miss Mary Ann Cardwell, is employed at Self Memorial hospital. Greenwood. She has recently returned from Turkey where she spent the past year on duty as a lieutenant in the Air Force Nurses Corps, and has received a discharge. TAKE VACATION TRIP Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Work man have returned from a tWo weeks vacation trip through the New England States and to Mon treal, Canada. Enroute they were visitors in WiUiamsburg, Va., Sturbridge, Mass., and points of interest in Maine. The return trip was made through the Shenan doah Valley. Mr. and Mrs. David Trice, of Fayetteville, N. C., spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. James Leonard Lane of Roch- Earl Workman. They were ac ester, N. Mrs. Russell is a native of James Island, and Mr Russell of Chicago, 111., a 1961 graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, has accepted a posi tion with the Laurens Mills Miss Jackie Pitts, who attends Stetson University, Deland, Fla., is at home for a few weeks be fore returning for her senior year. Charlton Law and Bill Horne, who have been attending summer school at The Citadel, Charleston, will arrive home tomorrow. Dean and Derrill, have pur chased the H. W. Steer home at 600 West Main Street, which they are now occupying. Mr. Steer is residing there with them. Mr. and Mrs. Alec Cruick- shanks have returned to their home in Alachua. Fla., after a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King. On Saturday they were guests of Mrs. O. T Lawing in Greer. While here they had as guests Mr and Mrs. Fred Clark and children of Alachua who were enroute to the moun tains of North Carolina. TEACH AT SULLINS Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Jones are spending several weeks with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs Hubert Todd before going to Bris tol, Va., to make their home Mr. Jones will teach chemistry at Sullins College. Jr., of Clemson, announce the birth of a daughter, Nancy Caro line, on August 16 at the Ander- s o n Memorial hospital. Mrs. Wrenn is the former Miss Nancy Simmons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs V. E. Simmons, of this city. Baptist Kindergarten Will Open September 5 Announcement has been made by Mrs. J. A. Orr that the Baptist church kindergarten will open on Tuesday, September 5. Sessions will be from 8:30 to 11:30 for five days a week and the schedule will be the same as the public schools. Registration wilt, be held on Thursday, August 31.
