EVERYDAY COUNSELOR
Daily light on the daily path is
what all of us desire. This is the
title of the most helpful book of
personal devotions I’ve ever used
There is a page for morning and
page for evening for each day in
the year. Each page contains
verses from the Bible gathered
under different topics—one topic
for each day. No comments are
added. God’s word speaks for it
self. Only the day* of the month
are given, so the book can be used
year after year. •
I’ve come to regard this little
book with the greatest veneration,
for it has meant to me what its
title implies, "Daily Light on the
Daily Path ” Years ago my fath

hook from personal use When I
saw what it meant to him, I com

a highly treasured gift from him.
Since his promotion into the high
er service of our Lord, I use his
book in the morning and mine
in the evening.
Some of my experience with
this little book are so sacred that
I hesitate to put them in public
print. It is only my desire to
who need it that moves me to
write these paragraphs.
Long ago in a time of great
trouble one of the old kings of
Israel went down to call upon
the prophet Elijah in prison, into
which he had been thrown on ac
count of his denunciation of the
sins of his day. There the dis
tressed king, who had exhausted
all other sources of guidance,
asked, “Is there any word from
the Lord?”
King, exhaust all our sources of
information and advice before
we inquire, “Is there any word
from the Lord?” It is so much
better to seek His word and guid
ance daily, than to wait until we
have exhausted all other sources.
If we do we will be spared much
needless anguish, mental and
spiritual wandering.
There is no circumstance nor
condition found in modern life
upon which God does not speak
today through His Holy Word.

Yes, there is word from the

hear it and light for the path of
those who seek it.
