An orchid, showered with tuberoses In Raleigh For Temple-Bannister Wedding, Parties Mrs. Roily Bannister, mother of the groom, was a guest of Mr. and Mrs Wallace Temple of Zeb ulon, N. C., for’a few days prior to the Temple-Bannister wedding and attended several of the pre nuptial parties for the bride-elect. The wedding party and out of town guests were entertained on the lawn of the Wallace Temple’s home for a supper party prior to the rehearsal and a party given by aunts of the bride afterwards. Sunday at noon a brunch was given in Raleigh for the wedding party and guests. Hosts and host esses for this occasion were Mrs. Bannister, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bryson, Dothan, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Luncheon Saturday Fetes Bride-Elect Honoring Miss Sandra Ray, Au gust bride-elect of John Lay of Walhalla, Mrs. J. J. Cornwall and her daughter, Mrs. Earl Hor ton, entertained with a luncheon on Friday at the Cornwall home Miss Sandra Davis, whose mar riage to Paul Watts took place Sunday, and Miss Sara Brad shaw, who will be married Satur day to Posey Watts Copeland, Jr., were guests for the party and were also remembered with gifts. Bridal place cards designated the guests’ places at the dining table centered with a silver and crytal epergene filled with pink ! roses and snapdragons. Friends Gather To Honor Miss Davis Among parties given to compli ment Miss Sandra Davis prior to hei-wedding on Sunday, was the coke party at which Miss Nancy Thackston was hostess. The honoree was presented a recipe file for which each guest had brought a signed recipe. Dur ing the afternoon, a salad course, cookies and cold drinks were served. Colorful summer flowers made a pretty setting for the informal gathering. GOLF LUNCHEON The luucheon for the Ladies’ Golf Association of Lahsride Country Club, will be held on Tuesday, the I3th, at 12:10. Miss Margaret Kent Bell and Mrs. C. W Copeland will he MISS BONITA COLEMAN Mr. and Mrs. William Allen Coleman, of Laurens, announce the engagement of their daughter, Bonita, to William Jackson Bruce, of Gaffney and Columbia, son of Mrs. Edwin Curtis Bruce, of Gaffney. Miss Coleman is a graduate of Laurens High School and Columbia Hospital School of Nursing. She Is presently employed at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Columbia. Mr. Bruce is a graduate of Bamberg High School and the University of South Carolina and is connected with Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co. in Columbia. The wedding will take place September 30 at the First Presbyterian Church in Laurens. Hortons Honor Miss Sandra Davis On Thursday morning prior to her wedding Sunday, Miss Sandra Davis was guest of honor at a coke party given by Mrs. Horace Horton and daughter, Miss Boot- sie Horton, at their home on West Walnut street. Upon arrival she was presented a corsage Sixteen friends assembled for the informal gathering for which Mrs. Blair Martin and Miss Bet sy Davis assisted the hostesses. A party plate with ham biscuits, cheese biscuits, cookies and other dainties was served with cold drinks. Decorating the living room were shaded pink roses arranged in an antique vase and an old fashioned crystal compote. Sun flowers were used in the den. Mrs. James H. Watts, Jr., of Fort Bragg, N. C., who was here for the wedding, was a guest for the party. As a remembrance of the occasion the hostesses pre sented Miss Davis with a gift of pottery. Methodist Women Announce Meetings A joint meeting of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service and the circles will be held at Broad Street Methodist Church Monday, August 14, at 9:20 a. m. Staton-Elliort Marriage Announced Mr and Mrs. H. W. Staton an nounce the marriage of their dau ghter, Shirley Ann, to Thomas L. Elliott July 1 in Newberry. Mr. Elliott is the son of Mr. and Mrs A. W. Elliott of St. Peters burg, Fla He is a senior at Pres byterian College where he is presi dent of Pi Kappa Phi social fra ternity and a member of the ten nis team Mrs. Elliott graduated from Clinton High School and attended Winthrop College for two years. S Bailey St Son, Bankers ARP Circles Join For Birthday Event Meeting jointly, the circles of the Associate Reformed Presbyte rian Church held the monthly see sion and annual jubilee birthday party on Monday evening at the church. Miss Nannie Young Tribble led the the “Christian Education' program, with several members from each circle discussing ar tides from the August Synodical Journal.
