Vernon A r m e s of Detroit, | Mich., visited Mr. and Mrs W M. Will ams recently. Mrs. J W. Davis of Laurens, is spending this week with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Williams. Mrs. Robert Reid and children,; Bobby, Tommy, and Marie Ann, of Berly, Mass.. Mrs. Edward Davenport and sons, Albert and Stanley, of Danielson, Conn., are spending several weeks with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ott Thom as. Mr .and Mrs. Rufus Handback visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cole man in Donalds Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Pressley Chaney, Mr. and Mrs. David McNinch at tended services at Faith Baptist Church in Honea Path Sunday and were dinner guests of Mrs. H. P. Hanley, and son, Howard Ar thur. Christi Ivester of Spartanburg, is spending a week with her grandparents, Mr and Mrs. A. R. Ivester. Jimmy Hamrick of Bostic, N. C., is visiUng Mr and Mrs. A. D. Lancaster. Mrs. Mary Tucker, Mrs. Cor- rine Phipps and Mrs. Vivian O’Sullivan attended the all-night singing in Greenville Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Leopard of West Columbia, spent the week end with J J. McGinnis. Devon Anthony of Laurens, returned with them to spend the week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cunningham and children, Mrs. Bessie Queen and H. L. Cunnigham visited rela tives in Hendersonville, N. C., Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Coley Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bigbee and children were visitors in Maggie’s Valley in the Blue Ridge Moun tains of North Carolina over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wooten, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Braswell spent the week-end in the Smoky Moun tains, Maggie’s Valley, N. C., and Gatlinburg, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Boozer vis ited Mr. and Mrs. Abe Warren in Newberry, Mr and Mrs. Horace Boozer of the Hartford commun ity near Newberry the past week end. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Adams, Mrs. H. A. Adams, Mrs. Hubert Leopard. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Heaton and daughter, Rudell, at tended the funeral of Mrs. W. A. Jones in Greenwood Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Erskine and son, Ben, of Storm Lake, Iowa, were Tuesday evening sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Elledge and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smith and sons of Chester, were Sat urday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Elledge. They also visited her mother. Mrs. Rose Prather, en- route home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Elledge and son, Steve, visited Mrs. Elledge’s mother, Mrs. Rose Prather, dur- in gthe week-end. Dean Sanders observed a birth day August 3. Mrs. Reba Samples and Mrs. E. B. Stroud observe birthdays today. A. E. Ealy observed his birth day July 29. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kernells. DORCAS BIBLE CLASS MEETING The regular monthly meeting of the Dorcas Bable Class of Cal vary Baptist Church was held Thursday evening, July 25, at the home of Mrs. Leo Heatherly. Mrs. Maggie Bearden opened the meet ing with prayer. Mrs. Ralph Stewart gave the devotional. Mrs. O. J. Gilliland closed the meeting with prayer. After an hour of fellowship re freshments were served. VISITING MINISTER Lewis Corley will conduct Sun day and Wednesday evening ser vices at Bailey Memorial Metho dist Church While Rev. Boyce Shumpert is attending a four- week schooling at Emory. PINK AND BLUE SHOWER Mrs. Rex Stroud was honored with a pink and blue shower Sat urday evening, July 29, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Me Watters at 1006 Elizabeth street. Games and refreshments were enjoyed by the group. Mrs. Stroud received many lovely gifts. Hostesses were Mrs. Jewell Sanders of Whitmire, and Mrs. Joyce McWatters. Mrs. Stroud is the former Miss Mert McWatters. WITH THE SICK Mrs. David Owens is a patient at Blalock Clinic. Mrs. Juanita Anthony is a pa tient at the Laurens County hos pital. Mrs. Freeman Lanford is ill at her home on Florence street. Little Jimmy Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Lewis, is a pa- tientat the Newberry hospital. Mrs. Coley Campbell spent a few days at Blalock Clinic last week. MRS. W. E. LYDIA Mrs. Lily Wilkie Lydia, 53, wife of William E. Lydia, died early Thursday morning at her home at 200 Davis street. She was a daughter at the lets Landrum and Alice Petty Wilkie. She was a member of Beaumont Mill First Baptist Church. Surviving in addtton to her husband are a son, James Lytla of El Paso, Texas; two brothers, R. C. and James Wilkie, both at Clinton; and a sister, Mrs. Jack Matthews of Greenwood. Funeral services were conduct ed Friday at 5:00 p. m. at the Church of God by Rev. J. L. Jen kins and Rev. Fred Rowe. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
