C., visited Mrs. Webb’s parents. Dr. and Mrs. John McSween, a few days last week. Little Ann Webb remained with her grandparents while the family is on a month’s trip to California. Mrs. Edward Brailsford of Charleston, is spending a few days here with her mother, Mrs. Dudley Jones, and sister, Mrs. B. Hubert Boyd. AT BEACH Mr. and Mrs. I. O. Ray and son, Jimmy, left yesterday to spend the remainder of the week at Folly Beach. Friends of Mrs. Bessie Hamm will be interested to know she has taken one of the Coleman apart ments on Ferguson street. Mrs. Eloise M. Howie of Green wood and Beaufort, will arrive today to visit with M,rs. W. A. Moorhead . Mrs. J. B. Wilder was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mahr and Mrs. Ada Campbell in Spartan burg for the holidays. Wilton Lanford of Norfolk, Va., was the week-end guest of his sis ter, Mrs. D. K. Snelgrove, and family. NEW RESIDENTS Mr. and Mrs. Larry Savelkoul and daughters, Laurie and Karen, are now residing here at 100 South Woodrow street. They formerly lived in Torrington, Conn., and he is connected with C B Metals Co. Mrs. W. Q. Grigg and son. Quay, Jr., are visiting their moth er and grandmother. Mrs. Metta C. Stone, and other relatives. Their friends will be interested to know they have moved from Charlotte to Kannapolis, N. C„ where the Rev. Mr. Grigg is pas tor of the Jackson Park Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Julian S. Bolick and daughter, Dixie, and Mrs. A. K. Dill are vacationing at their cottage at Pawley’s Island. They plan to return home on Sunday, the 9th. RIO RESIDENTS HERE Mrs. Frederick Knopp and chil dren, Tony, Josephine Barnett, and Kathy, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, are spending a month here with her father, John Spratt, and sister. Mrs. John Glover, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Roberts of Pomaria, were guests Thursday of Mrs. O. H. Sheely and family. Mr. and Mrs. Don Haselden spent Sunday^ in Rockingham, N. C„ with Mr. and Mrs. BUI Hasel den. ' • . RETURN FROM DETROIT Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Purchase and daughters have returned from a trip to Detroit, Mich. Mr. Purchase attended a tile a n d flooring convention, and Mrs. Purchase and daughters were guests of her sister, Mrs. F. F. Dewhurst, and Mr. Dewhurst. Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell Hender son had as their guest the past week the former’s niece, Miss Vir ginia Henderson of Orlando, Fla. AT BON CLARKEN Attending a recent intermediate conference at the ARP assembly grounds at Bon Clarken, N. C ., were Denna Lanford, Nancy Ar rington, and Judy Nabors. Ac companying the group were Mrs. Marion Nabors, Jeannie Nabors, Ronnie Bryson, Misses Margaret and Catherine Blakely. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Spratt, Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Quinn of Blacksburg, were guests of their sister, Mrs. W. B. Tribble, and Mr. Tribble on Tuesday. TOUR NEW ENGLAND STATES Mrs. Beatrice Coates, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wallace joined a tour Thursday for a ten day trip to the New England states. HOWES MOVE Mr. and Mrs. Claude H. Brenda McCrary spent last week in Camden with Linda Sheorn. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mabe McCrary, were there for the week-end with the Eugene Shcorns and the girls accompan ied them home. Mac McCrary re mained in Camden for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stutts and children, Bobby ana Robbin. of Great Falls, visited Mrs Stutts’ sister, Mrs. .lames E. Anderson and Mr. Anderson the past week end. W. G King. Jr , major in (he Air Force Reserve, spent last week at summer training at Dob bins AFB, Marietta. Ga. Mrs. King, and daughters accompan ied him to Marietta for the week. Mi^. Ernest Chaney has re turned from a recent visit with her daughter. Mrs S. P. Beaman and Mr Beaman in Pittsburgh, Pa. While there she attended the graduation of her granddaugh ter, Miss Betty Beaman, at Den ison College. Granville. Ohio. Mr and Mrs. R. B. Hellams will return during the week-end from a stay at their cottage at the Isle of Palms where they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Hellams, Jr., and little daugh ter. Georgianna, of Mount Pleas ant. Mrs. Hellams and daughter spent several days here last week with her parents, Mr and Mrs. A. C. Workman. Mrs Wilson Harris joined her daughter. Miss Cornelia Harris, of Columbia, and sister, Miss Margaret Purcell Bethea of Dil lon, and they spent the week-end at Myrtle Beach. FROM TENNESSEE Miss Sunie Murphy will return today to her home in Memphis. Tenn., after a two weeks stay here with her brother. R. G. Mur phy and Mrs Murphy. Major and Mrs. William Meek and two daughters of Rockville, Md , and Mrs Agnes Brodie of Florence, spent the week-end with their sister and daughter, Mrs. W- G King, Jr . and Mr. King. Libby Bishop has been spending two weeks at Shaw Field. Sumter, with her cousins; Ann and Ron nie Nelson Mrs Leonard Bishop and son. David, and Mrs Ernest Chaney will spend today there and accompany her home. Friends of Eric Barnes will be interested to know he is improv ing at Self Memorial Hospital, Cireenwood,• where he underwent surgery last week. Mr and Mrs Carl Chandler and son. Irby L. Chandler, at tended the funeral of T J Hutto in Reevesville on Friday Mr. Hutto was the father in-law of their daughter and sister, Mrs. William W. Hutton, the former Miss Sara Chandler of this city. - Mr and Mrs George W Bag- well and daughters spent the week-end at Tybee Beach, Savan nah. Ga Mrs J B. Speake and Miss Ella McCrary are vacationing with Mr. and Mrs Ace Watkins of Newberry at their cottage at Hunting Island. Miss Rachel Ann Wilson is spending some time with Miss Florence Oesterlund at Myrtle Beach where she is attending summer school at the University of South Carolina extension school. MOVE TO WALTKRBORO Mr. and Mrs R B Strock and little son left Friday to make their home in Walterboro where he will coach the coming year. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Horton and son, Horace, Jr., vacationed a few days last week at Cherokee and other points of interest in the mountains of North Carolina. The latter remained In Pendleton for a few days visit with his uncle, Preston Milam, and family. Miss Sally Anderson of Colum bia, has been the guest a few days this week of her nephew, Dr. D. O. Rhame, and Mrs. Rhame Don Rhame returned yesterday to Val dosta, Ga., where he is employed for the summer at Pinewood hos pital, after spending a few days at home. Richard Rhame, who is attending summer school at Wof ford College, Spartanburg, was also at home for the week-end. Miss Mary Erwin Smith of El- berton, Ga., is visiting her broth er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Smith. FROM INDIANA Mrs. John Mooney and daugh ter, Rebecca, of Evansville, Ind., have been visiting her sister, Mrs. lieonard M. Wilson, and Mr. Wil son Mrs. Wilson and son, Philip, were on a recent visit to her fath er, Carl Brosheers, in Evansville, and they accompanied them home. Mrs. Lois Thomas of Macon, Ga., has been spending some time here with her father, R. B. Sim mons. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moore of St. Petersburg, Fla , have return ed to their home after a visit with his sister, Mrs, Luther Young. While here, they with Mrs. Young, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Drummonds of Fountain Inn, and were visitors in the mountains of North Carolina. Billy Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Young, ia spending the week in Anderson with his cousins, Jimmie and Dick Fow- lar. Miss Hazel Boland of Green ville, is spending the week here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Boland. Little Beth McKinnon of Hamp ton, has been visiting her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hen ry. Her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. William McKinnon, and children have joined them here for the week. RETURNS HOME Miss Kathy Hart has returned home after visiting her room mates at Agnes Scott College, Miss Ellen Waddle in West Point, Ga., and Miss Marilyn Daniel, in Sanford, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin and daughter. Pammy, A. G. Galloway, Miss Susie Biack, Miss Kay Garner vacationed last week at Myrtle Beach They were join ed there by Mrs. Jim Walker and son. Ken, of Burlington, N C. Mrs H. M Wise has returned home after spending the month of June at Pawley's Island Mr. and Mrs. L W. Rawl of Williamsburg, Va., Mrs. Edward A. Alwine and daughter, Carol, of Landover Hills, Md„ left yester day to return to their homes after a few days visit with Mrs. Rawl’s and Mrs. Alwine's sister, Mrs. J. B. Arnold, and Mr. Arnold. Miss Jean Arnold returned to Williams burg with the Rawls for a several weeks visit. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Caldwell of Greenville, were weekend guests of the latter's sister, Mrs J. A. Chandler. TO PAKISTAN Mrs. Carroll B. Hart and little son left Sunday by plane for New York and sailed Sunday night via London for Calcutta where they will be met by Mr. Hart to go to Karachi, Pakistan, to make their home. They were accompanied by her mother, Mrs. James M. Oeland. to New York where she joined Mr. Oeland, who was there on business for Presbyterian Col lege. Dr. and Mrs. Carl Wessinger and children were in Anderson for the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Owen. Miss Geraldine Haydock has completed two years work at An derson College and has returned to her home here with her moth er. Mrs. Myrtis Haydock, for the summer. She, with her sister, Miss Ruby Haydock, are spend ing the week in Hendersonville, N. C., with their uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs Jim Haydock. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Krell and little daughter, Catherine Louise, of Columbia, spent several days this week here with her parents, Mr and Mrs. H. L. Eichelberger TO ST. LOUIS Miss Marjorie Arnold is spend ing the week in St. Louis, Mo., at tending the national Future Homemakers convention. Along with other district and state rep resentatives, she left Columbia Saturday by chartered bus. Jane and Tim Timmjrman are visiting their grandmother, Mrs R. D. Nance, and Mr. Nance in Deland, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. William Hatton and children of Florence, are vis iting their parents. Mrs. J. M Hatton, Mr. and Mrs. James E Anderson. ‘ VACATION AT EDI8TO Mrs. Ixmlse Hilton, Miss Essie Davidson and Miss Jean David son joined their sister, Mrs. Nor man Duke of Union, and spent the past two weeks with their sister, Mrs Henry Cooke, of Walterboro, at her summer cottage at Edisto Beach. Mr. Duke joined them dur ing their stay for a few days. Mrs E. F. Culbreath of Char lotte, N. C., visited her mother, Mrs O I Sheeley, during the past week. Mr. and Mrs Omer Bolt and family, Mrs John Carter and Miss Ruth Carter spent Monday in the mountains of North Caro lina. Methodist’ Conference To Be Held At Columbia College The Conference-Wide School of Missions and Christian Service of the Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service the South Carolina Methodist Conference will be held August 7-11 at Columbia College, Columbia All members of the Woman’s Society and the Wesleyan Service Guild are eligible to attend the school to prepare to teach the approved Mission Studies of the Woman’s Division, and to attend clinics in the different lines of work. Miss Lois Haselden is in Co lumbia for two weeks attending a band camp at the University of South Carolina. If he should be placed in a home, could the home receive the money? Answer: It is the usual practice to make payments on behalf of a child to the person responsible for the child’s welfare. If the super - intendent of the home is found to be responsible, then be would re ceive the payments for the child. Question: I am 49 years old, to tally disabled for the past 2 years. I hear that I can now get disa bility benefits. Will my wife and 2 young children be paid also? How do I make a claim?
