Miw Jackie Pitts arrived Mon day from Stetson University, De land, Fla., for a two weeks visit with her mother, Mrs. James Pitts, before returning to Deland where she will tutor high school students during the summer. AT YOUTH ASSEMBLY Miss Lois Marie Haselden is at tending the Youth Assembly at Columbia College, Columbia, Monday through Friday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Carlton F. Winn have returned from Atlanta and Decatur, Ga., where they attend ed the graduation of their dau ghter, Miss Florence Winn, at Agnes Scott College. They visited their daughter, Mrs. Jack Line, and Mr. Line in Atlanta during the week-end. Steve Turner returned home to day to spend the summer months with his mother, Mrs. Margin Turner. He has been attending Hampden DuBose Academy in Zellwood, Fla. IN KENTUCKY Mrs. Cora McQuiston left Fri day for Henderson, Ky., where she will visit her son, W. H. Mc Quiston, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cauble, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Cauhle spent Sunday at Myrtle Beach. Miss Ruth Bailey is in Griffin, Ga., with her sister, Mrs. A. O. Bray, going especially for the wedding of her niece, Miss Ro berta Bray, and Jerry Laval, who will be married in a home ceremony on Saturday. Larry and Julia Mobley of Aberdeen, N. C., are spending the summer months with their grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. George C. BeUingrath, while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Mobley, are attending summer school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. AT GIRLS’ STATE Misses Linda Boland, Elizabeth Blackwell, Gail Murphy and San dra Dunaway are attending Pal metto Girls’ .state in Columbia, June 5-11. Georgetown, attended the wed ding of a college friend, Miss Judy Marlea B r a m 1 e 11 and Charles Flint Rhem, Jr, at the First Baptist Church in Sunday afternoon. Miss Sara Jordan spent the week-end in Lanaster with her mother, Mrs. Lois Jordan and brother, John Jordan. Jimmy Tinman of Camden, spent the week-end with his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Tin man. Also guests of the Tinman family during the week-end were Misses Jean and Ruth Horne of Erwin, N. C. ON VACATION TRIP Mrs. Jack Red and son, John ny, are on a vacation trip to Texas and Arizona, going by plane. They are visiting her brothers, Tom Bolt, in Dallas, and Will Bolt, in Phoenix. - Miss Lou Abrams, of Warner Robins, Ga., arrived yesterday for a visit with her mother, Mrs. Estelle Abrams, her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Abrams. Duck Adair Joel Cox, Bill Horne, Charlton Law, Whit Mayes and A1 Williams, cadets at The Citadel, Charleston, arrived home Saturday for the summer. Sara Weldon Jackson returned yesterday from Montreat, N. C., where she spent several days with her uncle and aunt. Dr. and Mrs. Hubert G. Wardlaw. TO TEXAS Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Anderson leave today for a two weeks trip to Austin, Texas, where they will visit the former’s brother. Jama* L. Anderson and family. They will be accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Jones, of Woodruff. Mrs. Sam Kern of Greenwood, was the guest of Mrs. Agnes Kern recently. Mrs. Inez Pruitt has returned home following a week’s visit with her brother and law, Mr. and Mrs. C fey, in Columbia. While away she also visited her daughter, Mrs W. N. Meggs, in Florence. Miss Sara Babb of Laurens, was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Pinson. Miss Nancy Jo Pruitt spent several days last week at Ocean Drive with her sister, Mrs. W. N. Meggs, of Florence. Miss Ann Ray, who attended Meredith College, Raleigh, N. C., has been spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ray. Mrs. Louis Stephens and son, Louie, of Macon, Ga., spent last week here with her mother, Mrs. S. G. Dillard. Dr. Stephens was here for the week-end and accom panied them home. Among Furman students at home for the summer are Misses Linda Bridges, Sara Ray, and DeUe Wilder. IN MASSACHUSETTS Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Robbins and children are on a ten-day trip to Watertown, Mass., where they are guests of the former's rela tives. While there Mr. Robbins will attend the 25th reunion of his high school graduating class. Mr. and Mrs. William Davis, Misses Sandra and Emily Davis and also Paul Watts attended the graduating exercises at Clemson on Saturday. Their son and broth er, William T. Davis, was a mem ber of the class. Mrs. H. M. Wise is spending the month at Pawley’s Island Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Leonard, Belinda and Darrell, are vaca tioning this week as guests of relatives in Asheboro, N. C. George Copeland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pringle Copeland, is spending several weeks in Pied mont, Ala., with his grandpar- ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Eason. DELIVERS ADDRESS Dr. and Mrs. George C. RETURNS HOME Friends of Miss Annette Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Young, will be glad to know she was able to return to her home earlier in the week from the Laur ens Hospital where she has been a patient suffering accident in juries. Mrs. D. C. Heustess, a mem ber of the Erskine College staff, has returned to her home here for the summer months. Mrs. Dudley Jones is spending some time with her daughter, Mrs. B. Hubert Boyd and fam ily. They came especially to attend the graduation of Ed ward Brailsford, Jr., at Presby terian College. Mrs. George E > -rett and little son, William, returned Tuesday to their home in Thomasville, Ga., after a visit with her father, W. R. Anderson and Mrs. Ander son. WITH FRASERS Miss Anne Fraser, who attend ed Peace Junior College prep aratory department, Raleigh, N. C., is at home with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. T. Layton Fraser for the summer months. Mrs. Robert P. Schneider and daugh ters, Karen and Mary West, of Ludington, Mich., are spending several weeks with her parents. Rev. and Mrs. David Ross, of Williamsburg, Va., who have al so been visiting here, will leave at the end of the week for Mon treat where they will spend the summer. Mrs. W. A. Addy, with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. George Addy, and her mother, Mrs. Har ry Gallman, of Lakeland, Fla., were guests here during the week of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis H. Bag- well. They also visited relatives and friends in Union and Laur ens. Dr. and Mrs. Nolon Carter and little son left Tuesday for Nash ville, Tenn., where they will spend the summer. Dr. Carter will teach at Vanderbilt University summer school. Mrs. Harold DeGroot and chil dren, Charles and Elaine, of Winter Haven, Fla., are spend ing two weeks here with her sis ters, Mrs. Ben Mauldin and Mrs. Bill Gambrell. Also visiting here during the week-end were Mr. and Mrs. Louis T. Fuller and son, of Fort Mill. Mr. Fuller was graduated on Sunday from Clem son and they attended the exer cises. BROCKENBROUGH’S GUESTS Dr. and Mrs. W. Emory Bur nett, of Philadelphia, Dr. Wil liam Parkinson, dean of the Tem ple University Medical School, were guests for a few days last week of the former’s sister, Mrs. George R. Brockenbrough and Mr. Brockenbrough. Dr. Burnett, who is chief surgeon at the Tem ple University Hospital, was hon ored at Wofford commencement with a science degree. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pitts aud children, of Greensboro, N. C„ were week-end guests of the for mer’s brother, Charles Pitts, and other relatives here. Joining the family on Sunday were Mrs. R. J. Grube and children, of Cam den. Mrs. W. A. Moorhead, Misses Dixie and Julie Bolick spent a few days last week at the Bolick cottage at Pawley's Island. Miss Julie Bolick remained at Paw ley’s where she will work for the summer. They were accompan ied home by Mrs. H. G. Tarbox, Jr., of Georgetown, who is visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julian S. Bolick and who came especially to attend the Addison- Sease and the Hamer-Crandall weddings. Miss Luva McDonald, of the Thornwell music department, was the guest of her aunt, Miss Sadie McDonald in Richmond, Va., last week. McMaster and daugh ter, Miss Lawrence McMaster, of Winns boro, were guests on Sunday of Mrs. McMaster, Jr.’s mother, Mrs. Hugh Simpson. Mrs. Gary Martin, of Spartan burg, visited relatives in the city on Monday. On Tuesday she de parted for a visit to her son, .Gary Martin, Jr., and family in Mont gomery, Ala. Mrs. Martin was accompanied here by her daugh ters, Misses Emily and Banna Peister Martin who will soon at tend a six weeks science seminar at Converse College. Mr. and Mrs. George Plunkett, of Conyers, Ga.,' were week-end guests of the latter’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr..and Mrs. W. J. Abrams. They came especially for Mr. Plunkett to attend his class reunion at Presbyterian College during the commence ment program. Jones and daughter, Ellen, left yesterday for a trip to Florida. They will go by Atlanta where they will be joined by her father, Henry H. Wing, and thence to St. Peters burg, Fla., where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wing, Jr. While away they will also visit friends in Clearwater and in Sarasota. Marsha League, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill League, under went a tonsilectomy Tuesday at Blalock Clinic. Dismissed from Hays Hospital earlier in the week were Mrs. Jasper McGinnis, Mrs. Willie Mae Riley, Mrs. Clyde Culbert son, Mrs. Mary Barlowe, Mrs. Rachel Davis, Mrs. Evelyn King, Mrs. Mabel Wilson, Mrs. Janie Miller and Mrs. Rebecca McCar- son. G. W. Hollingsworth is improv ing at Blalock Clinic where he has been a patient. Mrs. Virginia Baker is a pa tient at Hays Hospital where she underwent surgery. Among patients at Blalock Clinic are Mrs. J. H. Donnon and Mrs. L. C. Singley. Friends of Mrs. Morgan Todd will be glad to know she is im proving at Hays Hospital where she has been a patient. Henry Young Hamilton, son i. Mr. and Mrs. Romayne Hamil ton, of Laurens, underwent a ton silectomy Tuesday at Blalock Clinic. Miss Martha Ann White is con valescing at home following an operation illness at Hajfs Hos pital. Mrs. Inez Cantrell and Mrs. Myrds Alewine are surgical pa tients at Hays Hospital. Returning to their homes ear lier in the week from Blalock Clinic were Otis Emery, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Emery; Mrs. Glenda McLendon, Mrs. Nick Sorrow, Dwayne Tucker, son of Mr. and Mrs Jimmy Tucker. Mrs. John Fulmer, of Joanna, has been discharged from Hays Hospital following surgery. Miss Pitts To Leave For An European Tour Miss Sara Pitts leaves June 12 for a two months tour of Europe. She will join Miss Molly White in Greensboro, N. C., and they will go to Montreal, Canada, where they will sail aboard the Empress of Great Britain on June 16. Their tour will include visits to England, France, Gar- many, Italy, Austria, Switzer land. and the Scandinavian coun tries. While in Germany they will visit with Miss White’s brother, who is stationed there with the armed forces. Miss Pitts, the daughter of Mrs. James Pitts, was graduated this June from Winthrop College. R. 1, Webb Honored By Shady Grove Church Shady G r.o v e Precbyterian Church paid tribute to R. L. Webb of Clinton, on Sunday, May 21, at a birthday dinner given for him at the church. Mr. Webb, an elder of the church since 1961, has been in strumental in keeping the church intact, which, like so many of our rural churches today, is faced with the possibility of having to close its doors The dinner, celebrating Mr. Webb’s 64th birthday, was held following the morning worship in the recently erected recreational building which on this occasion was named in his honor Guests at the dinner included the Reverend and Mrs. Hugh D Pollard of Joanna.
