Mitchell Laurens—Herman Ralph Mitch ell, 35, of Jones St., died Friday at 12:15 p. nt. In a Laurens hos- pitar after an Illness of two days. He was a native of Laure- s County and the son of Mrs. Sallit Forrester Mitchell of Madden Sta tion and the late Archie Calvert MitcheU. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Central Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dollie Davis Mitchell; four dau ghters, Wanda Lee Mitchell, Mar tha Ann Mitchell, La Verne Mitch ell and Diane Mitchell, til of the home; a brother, L. Wilson, of Laurens; and three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Seay of Laurens; Mrs. Mary Leel Johnson of Union; and Mrs. Sarah Golden of Clinton. Funeral services were conduct ed Sunday at 3:00 p. m. at the Kennedy Mortuary with military honors. Burial was in City View cemetery. John HoHey Smith Gray Court — John Harley Smtih, 78. formerly of Gray Court and native of Laurens County, died Sunday at 4:00 a. m. in a Spartanburg hospital after a year of declining health and two weeks of illness He was a retired farmer and clerk of Gray Court, and was a member of the Gray Court Bap tist Church. Since the death of his wife, Mrs Josie Kesler Smith, in 1958. he had been living with his sons in Spartanburg. He was a son of the late John C. Smith and Mrs. Amelia Putnam Smith. Surviving are three sons, Hor ace C. Smith, Fulwood A. Smith and Milton A. Smith, all of Spar tanburg; a sister, Mrs. Madora Hendrick of Columbia; and sve- en grandchildren. Funeral services were conduct ed Monday at 3:30 p. m. by Rev. Olin F. Hutchinson and Rev. William B. Bolt. Burial was in the Gray Court cemetery.
