Holland baa re turned from a visit with her dau ghter, Mrs. William Childs, and Mr. Childs in Atlanta, Ga. The Childs were here for several days recently and Mrs. Holland ac companied them home. Rites At 2:30 Today For Mrs. Conrad Norris Mrs. Daisey Conrad Norris, 70, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rqcy Crain, near Joanna, after several years of declining health. She was a native of Haywood County, N. C., but had lived in Laurens County for 30 years. She was the daughter of the lata John Thomas and Jane Rathbone Con rad. She was a member of Lydia MID Baptist Church. Her hus band, C. R. Norris, died In 1966. Surviving In addition to Mrs. Crain are one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Raines, of Rt. 2, Clin ton; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be con ducted at 2:30 p. m. Thursday at Hurrivane Baptist Church by Rev. J. H. Darr. Burial will be in Fountain Inn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be General Lyda, Bill Bishop, Fred Long, Ejigene Crain, Lloyd Conrad and W. P. Mrs. George Bellingrath is spending several days In Aber deen, N. C., with her grandchil dren while her daughter, Mrs. Wade Mobley, and Mr. Mobley are attending a North Carolina educational meeting in Asheville. Mrs. Gary Holcombe was the guest speaker for the Rose Ab beville Garden Club of Abbeville on Thursday of the past weak. She talked on holly. Mrs. Judaon Brehmer accompanied her to Ab beville for the meeting. Mrs. C. G. Barnett and son, Gene, and Mrs. Chester Padgett, of Charlotte, spent Sunday with their mother, Mrs. Lucy Nabors. HURRICANE BROTHERHOOD MEETS The Brotherhood of Hurricane Baptist Church met Thursday, March 9, at the church. A supper of spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad and rolls was served by Mrs. Dillard Young, Mrs. Al len Young, and Mrs. Mason Young. J. W. Caldwell, stewardship chairman, presented the pro gram. A film, “Treasuers in Hea ven,” was shown. Nine members were present. COMMUNITY CLUB TO MEET The regular meeting of the Hur ricane Community Club will be held today, Thursday, March 16, at 7:30. Oran Nobors Attending College In Texos Denton, Tex. — Oran Rogers Nabors, a graduate of Clinton High School and Furman Univer sity, is a membra of the North Texas State College concert band, which will perform in 14 cities during a spring tour March 22- 29. Nabors is doing graduate study In music education. He is a member of the NTSC marching band and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia -of America, national music fra ternity for man. Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock Mrs. Ruth HID entertained a number of India* of the commun ity with a cosmetic* party at the Shady Grove club bouse. HOUSE WARMING GIVEN . Saturday evening at 7:30 mem bers of Fairvtew Baptist Church met at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Marion Ringer and presented them with a number of useful household articles. Rev. and Mrs. Ringer and two young children, Mike and Lindler, recently moved from Clinton to the new parson age. The parsonage was erected on a site adjoining the church property. The site for the parson age was given by Mr. and Mrs. Mom Uohnson. Saturday evening Rev.' and Mrs. Wayne Wiggins of Laurens, were dinner guests in the home of Mrs. Bessie Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Jamas Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. David Pitts, Da vid and Sally, were in Rock Hill over the week-end to visit Mr. and Mrs. George Cobb and Miss Mar tha Pitts. On Sunday they attend ed the christening of the young son of Mr. and Mrs. George Cobb, George Cobb, III, who is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Pitts. 4-H CLUB MEETS Monday afternoon at 3:30 the boys’ and girls’ 4- Hclubs met at the club bouse. The meeting was presided over by the president, Shirley Spivey. Following the joint devotional period, the groups met separately, and dem onstrations were glvkn by the agents. During the social hour refresh ments were served by Jimmy Johnson and Travis Crappa. Af ter the meeting the boys enjoyed baseball. GIRL SCOUT WEEK In observance of Girl Scout Week Lynn Keller Nabors, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Nabors, took part in Girl Scout Observa tion Week. Lynn is a membra of a scout troop in Joanna. Mrs Frances Warner of Joanna, is lo cal leader and was assisted by othra ladles. The scout* met Sun day at the Revival Centra in Jo anna for observation of the flag ceremonies. Monday night Lynn, accompanied by her father, at tended the banquet at the Joanna club house In honor of Girt Scouts. Immediately following the banquet the young group en joyed a square dance. Other ac tivities Lynn will take parkin this week will be a visit to Laurens where the girls will be shown through the court bouse. One af ternoon they will meet to hem towels for the Joanna club house. We encourage participation in such organizations as scouts and 4-H clubs, as these clubs strive along with the schools to build stronger youth, for it is only through strengthening our youth will America become stronger. WEEK OF PRAYER Ladies of Fairview Baptist Church will meet at the church Thursday evening at 7:30 to ob serve Week of Prayer for Mis sions. The Annie Armstrong of fering will be taken at this time. The program for Week of Prayer is to be conducted by Mrs. Bes sie Johnson. TO SPONSOR SUPPER Saturday evening, March 18, ladles of Shady Grove Presbyte rian Church will serve a chicken stew supper ut the recreational building of the church. Adult sup per will be $1.00 and children’s supper will be 25c. Proceeds from this project will be used for mission work. The contest was sponsored by the senior class of the Gray Court school to help defray expenaes of the trip to Washington, D. C. Members of the band are Bobby Johnson, Jerry Campbell, Ron nie Marie, Jack Powell, Tommy Sanders, Mike Reddeck, Larry Edwards, Gary Cause, Pete Cooper, Hap Mcgween, Ty Smith, and Preston White.
