ed in the U. S. Navy on Tuesday,
January 24. They went by plane
from Columbia to the Great
Lakes Naval Training Center in
Great Lakes, 111., where they will
be taking their boot training.

Mrs. Jimmy Barnes with bar
group of Blue Birds visited
Pete’s No. 0 Drive-In in Laurens
on Wednesday of last weak. The
drive-in was celebrating tbs first
anniversary.
The Blue Birds were treated to
hot dogs, drinks and ice cream.

Autopsy Shows
Coronei Marshall Pressley has
revealed ttiat an early autopsy re
port stated ttiat B. J. Fuller, 54-
year-old Laurens County man,
strangled to death after becoming
ill.
The man was found in an un
conscious condition about 6:00 p.
m., Monday, in a rest room of a
tavern on Highway 72 near Clin
ton. Sheriff R. Eugene Johnson's
office received a call around
10:00 p. m. and found Fuller dead
at his home where be lived with
his brother, David C. Fuller, Jr.,
on Rt. 2, Clinton.
Three men, Frank Peavy, John
Taylor and Hive Smith told offi
cers they bad carried the uncon
scious Fuller to bis home and
then left immediately.
Peavy was being held in the
Laurens County Jail after telling
officers be removed $20 from Ful
ler when he found him in the rest
room, the sheriff’* office report
ed.
Coroner Pressley said that an
inquest will be held when he re
ceives the complete autopsy re
port.

Lose To Chester
The Clinton high boys and girts
basketball teams lost to Chester
Tuesday evening in the Eastern
Division AA conference games at
Chester. The Chester girls scored
40 points and the Clinton girls
35. Top scorers were Cassells,21,
for Chester, and Clara Belle Hill,
25. for Clinton.
Chester won over the boys with
a 62 to 48 score. Philip King, with
18 points, was leading scorer for
Conference records for the local
teams are: girts, 2 wins and 4
losses; boys, 3 wins and 3 losses.
