Mr. aad Mrs. Hubert Davis, of Anderson, were week-end visi tors of the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur League. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Poag spent Monday night with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Lowe in Char lotte, N. C. Friends will be interested to know Miss Louise Schumpert re cently accepted a position with Ruby's Beauty Shop in Clinton. Little Hal Russell is ill at his home with measles. CHICKEN STEW VEIDAT The Joanna Teenage Club will sponsor a chicken stew Friday, January 27, at Joanna Club House. Stew will be ready at 4:20 p. m. Proceeds from this sale will be given to the new March of Dimes. SUNDAY SCHOOL PARTY Mrs. Cecil O’Dell, teacher of Class No. 18, Junior High Boys and Girls of Epworth Methodist Church, entertained for them on Saturday evening with a party. Rev. J. Herbert Thomas led the games and entertainment. Re freshments of party dainties and soft drinks were served the group from a buffet table. A large group attended the party. On Wednesday he left to go to Baltimore, Mr., and Wash ington, D. C., where he will be interviewed for positions. Mr. and Mr*. G. N. Koy spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Foy and family in Elco. Miss Linda Abrams spent the week-end with Miss Doris Abrams in Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Elliott visited Mr. and Mrs. Calvin El liott, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mundy in Georgetown over the week end. Miss Hazel Wehunt, of Flor ence, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Wehunt. All members are urged to attend. SERVICES HELD FOR , JOHN W. CRAIG John W. Craig, 63, died early Tuesday morning, January 17, at a Joanna hospital after three years of declining health. A native of Laurens County, he was the son of the late Fran cis M. and Susan Jane Cooper Craig and had spent most of his life in Joanna. He was a veteran of World War II and attended Joanna Baptist Church. He was employed by Joanna Cotton Mills for a number of years. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Craig B. (Alice) Murphy, of Jo- Funeral services were conduct ed Thursday at Joanna Baptist Chrucb by* Rev. James B. Mitch- Burial was in Baptist Cem etery, Lanford Station. ' Pallbearers were Bill Boyd, Frank Phillips, Dave Madden, Joe Anderson, Roy Sexton, and Robert Poore.
