A ' Christmas letter from this
home came to me at Christmas
time as a testimony of the won
derful work done there.
“When our friend, Walter, ap
plied for a special license {date
for his car, requesting the num
ber 2C517, he was promtly re
fused and told be just could not
have it. Then he sat down and
wrote a letter to the Commission
er of Motor Vehicles of the State
of New York, giving the following
testimony: ‘Ten years ago I was
about to lose everything I had in
the world as a result of the drink
habit and gambling. It meant the
loss of my home, my fine wife
and two lovely children. Then
one day I found the answer to my
need at Keswick Colony of Mercy
in New Jersey, where I was
shown the way of life through the
power of God.
“ ‘ During these past ten years
I have been kept entirely free
from drinking and gambling I
have my devoted wife and chil
dren who love me more than ever
and we have a happy boms. Now,
in Second Corinthians 8:17 (la tbs

man be in Christ, be is a new

During these Christmas holi
days an increasing number’ of
men and now women are going to
be in serious trouble with alcohol
But In this year of 1980, there are
many more agencies such as A1
cohoUcs Anonymous and homes
for alcoholics which stand ready
and eager to give hq)p to those
in need and to show that it is pos
sible to find victory over alco
hol in a new life and become “a
new creature” in Christ Jesus.
But alas, along with the in
crease in the number of agencies
for help, there is a corresponding
increase in the number of alco
holics. And sad to relate, the
number of alcoholic women is so
increasing that now of every five
alcoholics, two are women.
I wish that every reader of this
