Mrs. Milam Hostess To Church Group “Looking Backward—Thinking Forward,” was the topic of the program tor the January meet ing of the Sara Glenn Circle of Broad Street Methodist Church, held on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. W. C. Milam. ■ A salad course was served with hot pound cake and coffee and a social hour was enjoyed by the twenty-one members attending. Assisting Mrs. Milam as host esses were Mrs. L. Ray Pitts and Miss Wynona Ray . Mrs. Joe H. Bonds, chairman, preaided. Mrs. Call Chaney had charge of the program, which was presented as an interview. Also taking part were Mrs. Jodie C. McMillan and Mrs. Donald Longshore. Bridge Club Meets With Mrs. Blalock Thursday Mrs. George R. Between progressions the hostess served light refresh ments. Dessert Bridge Given For Club Mrs. James P. Sloan gave a dessert bridge on Thurslay af ternoon for members of her card club. Two tables were pretuly ap pointed for a sweet course when the guests arrived. A number of progressions were enjoyed, with Mrs. Henderson Pitts winning top honors. Methodist W. S. C. S. Celebrates 20th Anniversary Monday The Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service of Broad Street Methodist Chitfch celebrated its 20th anniversary with a birth day party at the church last Monday afternoon. Prior to becoming known as the Women’s Society of Christian Service in 1940, women of the Methodist church were organized into local auxiliaries which were unified 20 years ago. Mrs. Roy Casque of the Paul ine Coleman circle, presented a program entitled, "This Is Your Life,” based on the television show, with other circle members taking the various parts In the “life” of the WSCS since its in- cep tion. They were Mrs. Hugh Simpeon, who as a charter member of the Women’s Society, reminisced about the early years; Mrs. Paul Muller, Mrs. Robert Anderson, Mrs. Dan Yarborough, Mrs. Wil- mot Shealy, Mrs. A. G. Sublet!, Mrs. W. R. Pitts, Jr., Mrs. Her man Jackson, Mrs. Sam Chan ey, Mrs. W. G .Finney, Jr., Mrs. John Adtison, Mrs. Joel Cannon, and Mrs. S. C. Dunlap. Following tbe skit, cake and tea were served by Mrs. Hugh Simpson and Mrs. Irene Pitts from a buffet table covered with a white, cloth and centered with an arrangement of pink carna tions and rosebuds. A silver ser vice, presented to the church by Mrs. T. J. Leake, was used for the observance. Preceding tbe program and so cial hour a business session was presided over by Mrs. Robert An derson,” president of the society, who announced that the annual Greenwood district meeting will be held at Broad Street church April 20. -She also called atten tion to the membership drive cur rently in progress in the church with all divisions participating. Comp Fire Girls Plan Golden Jubilee Celebration Jon. 26 On Thursday night, January 26, tbe Camp Fire Girls will have a local Golden Jubilee Celebra tion beginning at 7:30 in the Clin ton Armory. The local celebra tion is in observance of the 90th anniversary of the incorporation of the Camp Fire Girls and is part of a national three-day cele bration. Highlight of the celebration will be the awarding of citations to individuals who have performed outstanding service to tbe organi zation. Also appearing on tbe program will be the CUnton High School band. In addition to the celebration at tbe armory, exhibits demon strating the handcrafts and ac tivities of Blue Birds, Camp Fire and Horizon girls will be dis played at the Camp Fire Hut. With the exhibits wlU be s his tory book containing the origin of the organization of Camp Fire girls in Clinton and a brief out line of the activities of each gWD. 2 Committees working on the lo cal Golden Jubilee Celebration are: Grand Council Fire—Mrs. David Word and Mrs. A. B. Da vidson; Invitations—Mrs. Hugh Jacobs; Exhibits—Mrs. Keith F McGee. Horizon girls from the three districts will be present at the following-meetings to tell about Members of her Thursday Club met last week at the home of Mrs. Kenneth N. Jacobs entertained about fifteen friends informally at a drop-in on Saturday after noon. Dil lard was high score winner. At the conclusion of the games Mrs. Adair was assisted by her grand daughters, Virginia Crocker and Mary Adair, in serving a salad and sweet course. Mrs. J. Lee Young Honored On Birthday Mrs. J. Lee Young was honored on Sunday, the occasion of her birthday, when her son and dau ghter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Le- land Young, were hosts to mem bers of her family for dinner. Attending from Chester were Dr. and Mrs. R. E. Abell, Mrs. B. L. Crawford, and from Low- lett, and Mrs. Gene Simmons. They will report in April. about the Jubilee Celebration. Tonight at the Kiwanis meet ing and tomorrow evening at the Lions Club; Tuesday afternoon the Legion Auxiliary and Tues day evening at the Exchange club; on the 19th they will visit the Lydia Woman’s Club, Clinton Mills Woman’s Club and the Jay C-Ettes. Previously they have ap peared at meetings of the Civitan Club, the Jaycees and the Busi ness and Professional Woman’s Club The Camp F r ire Girls organiza tion in Clinton is an agency of the Community Chest. Tondo Horizon Oub Plans Activities Among plans for avtivities of the Taada Horizon Oub is « ball to be held the latter part of tbe month at the Mary Musgrove Ho tel. Also at the meeting on January 9 at the Camp Fire Hut, Marjorie Arnold, vice-president, was ap pointed program chairman. She will choose two girls to assist. Norma Davidson and Jane El- Miss Hart Presented At Assembly Ball Mrs. Littlefield Is Claimed By Death - Mrs. Julia AtUson Littlefield, 62, a matron at Whitten Village, died in a Greenville hospital at 9:19 p. m., Monday, following two months of illness. She was a daughter of the late N. M. Atkison and Florence Tins ley Littlefield, and was born in Greenville. She had served on the staff and made her home at Whitten Village for years. Mrs. Littlefield was active in the State Employees’ Association and for three years was an offi cer in that group. Last year, she received-the awared as the moat outstanding state employee and was the only woman ever to win that honor. Mrs. Littlefield was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of this city. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Mary L. Cobb of Greenville; one son, James A. Littlefield, of Inman;- three sisters, Mrs. Wil liam T. Cobb of Greenville; Mrs. Matt Littlefield of Inman; and Mrs. W. T. Turner of Charlotte, N. C.; one brother, J. C. Atkison, of Greenville; and four grandchil dren. Her husband. Jamas a Little field, died a number of years ago.
