We grew up yesterday. The pianos and ra dios which had startled our parents were com monplace to us. Television and jets we coaid take in stride. But Space! Who among ns ex acted to live in a Ruck Rogers era? Yet to our youngsters nothing seems more natural than man’s invasion of the aniverse. Everything that went before was preparation. We are ready to blast off. And the man who will establish our first colony on Mars is prob ably training for his mission in a sixth grade classroom . . . Was there ever a time when religious, moral and spiritual development were more essential to our youth? Western District Court seeking $38,500 for injuries and insu'ts she allegedly receiv ed Sept 12 while a passenger on the Seaboard Airline Railroad The action filed with U. S. Dis trict Clerk of Court Miller C. Foster. Jr., listed the plaintiff as Vivian M Bridges (44 Mount Vista Ave.L The suit alleges that in Septem ber the plaintiff was a passenger on a Seaboard train enroute to Clinton from Portsmouth, Va., and that on arrival in Clinton thp train conductor (not identi fied) required the plaintiff to de part the train in a dark and un safe place several hundred yards from the station, despite her pro tests. In so doing, he used abu sive and insulting language, it alleges. It continued that in walking to the station with heavy baggage, the plaintiff fell and that even though she was seen to fall th^ conductor failed and refused to render assistance - but instead . . laughed at plaintiff as she lay upon the ground.” The plaintiff alleges that sue h acts and conduct of the defen dant’s agent, while acting within the scope of his employment, were willful, wanton, reckless and negligent and caused the plaintiff’s injuries, prevented her from transacting her business, that she has suffered ‘ pain in Thursday, December g, 1960 mind and body and has incurred medical expenses. The suit continued that a young man came to the assistance of the plaintiff and escorted her to the station where she registered a complaint with the station agr# who also refused assistance; and that later the agent made state ments which implied the young man . . had been paid to go along with the plaintiff” thus falsely accusing the’ plaintiff of attempting to bribe a‘witness in the incident. It concluded such action and statements have subjected the plaintiff to ridicule, her reputa tion has been injured and she has been caused to suffer mentally. OFFICE SUPPLIES CHRONICLE PUBLISHING CO.
