Clinton Defeated By Easley For UpSUte Title, M-12 Easley defeated Clinton 20-12 Fri day night on Bhce Field at Easley in a game that decided the upper 'state Claas AA championship. The Red Devils took an early lead of 6-0 when End Barry Whitman picked up a Green Wave fumble and ran nine yards for the TD. The attempted conversion by Littleton was missed. Easleyroaced back in the second period to tie the score when Quar terback Grantham passed to Half back Haygood in a play that cover ed 40 yards and set up the touch down The Red Devils, with their backs to the wall, held inside their two-yard line for three downs. But on the fourth down, with inches to go, Oranham went in for the score. The conversion by Cape was miss ed, making it 6-6 midway of the / second period Easley scored again with a min ute to play in the first half, after they had intercepted a Clinon pass on their own 35-yard line. With seconds remaining, Grantham pass ■ ed to Ballanger for the score, and Cape added the point to make it 13-6 at halftime. The Red Devils came back strong in the second half to get a TD in the 3rd quater, set up by the run ning of Littleon, Sprouse and Stew- ait.
