Howard Higginbotham stepped
off 99 yards on the first play from
scrimmage to set the victory stage
for the Gophers. A Gordon Tim
mons to Clyde George pass tallied
the extra point.
Timmons led Thomwell’s attack
with a 72-yard pass to George in
the second period and an 80-yard
jaunt in the thidr. He also passed
for the Gophers’ only other extra
point, in the second period, to Mil-
ton Rines.
Chapin, which has won five
straight this season, tallied in the
second period when Albert Shealy
ran the final five yards around
end. The extra point try failed.
Joe Shealy scored Chapin’s other
TD in the third period on a 15-yard
option play The run for the point
failed.

Combine Operations

T.w William M. Shields Studio of
Clinton, has combined operations
with Mlils Steele Studio. Greenville,
effective October 1, it has been an
nounced
The recently remodeled and en
larged Green vile plant will have a
new name, ‘‘'Ihe Gallery,’’ marking
the inauguration of a business asso
ciation that began as a friendship
in 1961. The merger of the two por
trait studios has been considered
since 1956 and planned since June.
Mr. Steele and Mr. Shields have
served as officers in regional and
national photography associations,
have frequently appeared on con
vention platforms, and are the only
two South Carolina photographers
to receive the awards of Photogra
phy from the Professional Photog
raphers of America, Inc. They were
recently commissioned by the East
man Kodak Company of Rochester,
to take part in a current advertis
ing series for Kodak materials en
titled “Shields photographs Steele,”
which appeared in the September
issue of The National Photogra
pher, trade magazine.

Clinton Turns Back

ed Lancaster’s Blue Hurricane Fri
day night on‘a rain-soaked field,
27-13. The game was played in Lan
caster in a continuous downpour
before a crowd of approximately
1.000. ,
The Red Devils did their scoring
in the first half. They took the
opening kickoff and drove all the
way for a TD, with quarterback
Phil King scoring from the four-
yard line. Kinard Littleton kicked
the point after and Clinton led 7-0.
Eddie Madden, Clinton halfback,
carried 70 yards for the second
score when his teammates broke
him loose with some fine blocking.
The play started at the 30-yard line.
The extra point attempt failed and
Clinton led 13-0
The Hurricane roared back with
a touchdown, set up by their half
back Gibson, with a 56-yard sweep
They punched it over and converted
the point to make it 13-7.
Clinton w’as able to move the ball
again early in the second quarter,
with Littlejohn and Keith Stewart
