to Me," is the topic of the Laurens
Soil Conservation District essay
contest, according to an announce
ment by Ryan F Lawson of Rt.
3, Clinton, chairman of the Laurens
Soil Conservation District Supervis
ors.
The contest, open to boys and
girls in Laurens County schools,
fifth through eighth grades, inclu
sive. will dose October 28
A total of 150.00 in priae money,
made possible by tha Supervisors
of the Laurens Soil Conservation
District, awaits the first three win
ners. The prizes will be distributed
$25.00 to frist place, $15.00 to sec
ond .and $10.00 to third.
In addition, the three winning es
says in the county will be eligible
to compete for state awards, which
will be $75.00 for first, $50.00 for
second place in the Piedmont and
$50.00 for second place in the Coast
al.
All essays must be turned in to
Lawson at Rt. 3, Clinton, or to the
office of the §£il Conservation Ser
vice in Laurens no tlater than Oc
tober 31.
