Mrs. Davis is the former Miss Atha Galloway, a native of Man ning. She is a sister of W. Albert Galloway of West Palm Beach, Fla . and a cousin of W. G. King. The Davises had operated a large poultry farm, raising turkeys, at Dalzell for about fifteen years. Mr and Mrs. Galloway were here for a visit with the latter’s sister. Mrs. John W Finney, Sr. when the message of the tragedy was receiv ed and thev left immediately for Dalzell • Warrior Creek Church To Celebrate 150th Anniversary Sunday The Warrior Creek Baptist Church. Rt 2. Gray Court, on Sun day will observe its 150th anniver sary as an officially established Baptist church. Before its official organization, however, religious ser vices were held in the community's homes as far back as 1790 or 1791. It was at that time known as a branch of Upper Duncan’s Creek Church. A special program is planned with homecoming day activities begin ning with the Sunday School hour at 10:00 a m and worship services at 11 00 a m The pastor, the Rev. M Floyd Hellams. will preside and give a brief sketch of the church’s interesting history. Recognitions will be made, spe cial music will be rendered, a for mer pastor, the Rev Claire Baker, will deliver the inspirational mes sage. All offerings for the day, un less otherwise designated, will go into the building fund Families are asked to bring lunch and tea which will be served picnic style about 12 30 o'clock. BURTS Miss Mfcrian Amanda Burts is one member of the Presbyterian Col lege staff who serves at least as many Clinton residents as she does PC students. Her role as librarian includes su pervision of the collection of 50,- 000 volumes which compose the community library. It’s a joint town-and-gow n operation featuring, in addition, an attractive section for children. Hundreds, of Clinton residents use the library facilities annually, and many look to Miss Burts for guid ance in research projects of various types. Miss Burts joined the PC staff in 1945. after serving for several years as librarian and as teacher of Eng lish and library science at North Greenville Junior College. A native of Honea Path, she holds her BA degree from Furman Uni versity. her master’s from the Uni versity of South Carolina, and she has the degree of BS in library science from George Peabody Col lege Of this staff member. CO. PHONE 74 Jack Davis, Rt. 2. Clinton, was as sisted this week in the survey of 15,000 feet of terraces w hich are to be built by the district’s terracing machine after the first good rain. This section of the county has not had rain for over eight weeks and the ground is too hard for terrace construction at this time. The to pography on about half of Mr. Da vis’ field w as such that parallel ter races were laid out. This means that the terraces are the same dis tance apart and all rows will be long rows. By using this system of terracing, planting, cultivating and harvesting is accomplished faster and more economical. C. H. Campbell Gray Court — Claude Harrison Campbell, 63, resident of the Dials community of Laurens County, died at 11:45 a. m., Friday, from a gun shot wound suffered at his hmoe.
