erature and Chrstian Education, the
topic for April, was the Christian
education secretary from Circle No.
1, Mrs. Hubert Todd. Mrs. Dewey
^ Oxner, secretary of Cirdle No. 2,
gave the devotional, with Mrs. C.
Bynum Betts and Mrs. R. L. Plaxi-
co also taking part on the program
The auxiliary president, Mrs. No
tan Carter, gave a review of the
past year’s wort*.
At the close of the meeting a so
cial hour was enjoyed and the
hostesses. Mrs. Hubert Todd, Mrs.
Clyde Todd, and Mrs. Betts, served
sandwiches, cookies,, and punch.
Elizabeth Hiers
Celebrates Birthday
To celebrate her ninth birthday
which occurred March 27, Elizabeth
Hiers invited about 17 girl friends
for a party the afternoon before at
the home of her parents. Mr. and
Mrs. Marion Hiers on Woodrow Dr.
Outdoor games were enjoyed and
later the group was invited inside
for refreshments. Asssiting Mrs.
» Hiers was Elizabeth’s aunt, Miss
Bessie Jones.
The white and pink cake bearing
the words “Happy Birthday’’ and
nine lighted candles was cut and
served with ice cream. Favors were
given the little guests.
Canasta Party Honors
Newcomer To Clinton

to Clinton to make her home, Mrs.
Henderson Pitts, Miss Lily Yarbor

Four tabtee were arranged for the
games in the den where snapdrag
ons, gladioli and other seasonal
flowers were used in decoration.
Mrs. W. C. Baldwin was winner
of high score prize and the guest of
honor was also remembered with a
gift. Mrs. H. H. Kinard of Balti
more, Md., who was visiting her
niece, Mrs. T. C. Johnson, was a
f guest for the party.
Later in the afternoon when cards
were laid aside the hostesses served
a salad plate.

■Mr. and Mrs. James Moore Oeland of this city announce the en
gagement of their daughter, Helen Watkins Oeland, to Edmond
Weymnn Camp, m, son of Dr. and Mrs. Edward Weyman Camp, H,
of Anderson. Miss Oeland attended St. John’s High School, Darling
ton. and Converse College where she graduated in 1959. She now
teaches at Ashley Hall, Charleston. Mr. Camp attended Boy’s High,
Anderson. He graduated from Emory in June, 1958. There be was a
member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He is now a student at the South
Carolina Medical College in Charleston. A June 9 wedding is planned.

Columbia Home
Honors Miss Bolick
Mrs. Wilbur Stevenson Smith and
her daughter. Miss Sally Smith, a
student at Sweetbriar, honored
their cousin, Miss Margaret Anne
Bolick bride-elect, with a tea at
their home on Lake Katherine in
Columbia Friday afternoon, April 1.
The spacious drawing room was
beautifully decorated with camellias
and other seasonal flowers featuring
a pink motif. The dining room fol
lowed the same decor centering otf
the table. On the pale pink linen
cover was a silver candelabra em
bellished with varying shades of
pink camellias and at one end was
a handsome silver punch bowl ap
propriately flanked with floral dec
orations. The buffet and serving
tables were graced with candelabra
and decorations in keeping with the
chosen motif.
Receiving in the foyer were Miss
Smith and Miss Julie Bolick. who
welcomed the guests and introduced
them to the receiving line composed
of Mrs. Smith, Miss Bolick, her
mother, Mrs. Julian Bolick, and
Mrs. Herbert G. Tarbox, Sr., moth
er of the groom-elect.
Presiding at the punch bowl was
Mrs. Jesse Williamson, 'mother and
grandmother of the hostesses. Serv
ing in the dining room were Misses
Peggy Smith, Janie Kapp and Nan
cy Lee of Columbia, and Miss Dixie
Bolick.
Others assisting were Mrs. George
Smith and Mrs. Estelle B. Dill,
grandmother of Miss Smith, and
Miss Bolick, Mrs. R. P. Kapp, and
Mrs. Forrest Theiker of Columbia,
and M!rs. S. E. Miller of George
town.
Included in the guest were a num
ber of relatives and friends from the
Clinton area. •
Entertains Friends
At Supper, Dance
In celebration of his fifteenth
"birthday, Ty Smith, son of Lt. Col.
and Mrs. F. V. Smith, entertained
about 22 friends on Friday evening
in the teen-age room at Smith’s
Ranch Motel.
Guests were invited for a ham
burger supper and dancing during
the evening Colorful balloons used
in decoration along with party novel
ties and favors added to the mer
riment of the occasion. Assisting
Col. and Mrs. Smith in enteitaining
were their son, Vinney, at home for
spring holidays from Rutgers, New
Brunswick, N. J., and his guest,
Jerry Karycki of Fords, N. J.

Davidson was hostess for a spend-
