To Club Members
Mirs. D. O’ Rhame was hostess to
inembers of her bridge club on
Thursday afternoon at her home on
West Walnut Street.

rangements were used in decoration
for the card -rooms. After play the
two tables were appointed for a sal
ad course. Prizes went to Mrs. H. L.
Etchelberger, Mrs. H. M. Wise, and
J. M. Oeland, a ilub, visitor.

Ladies Golf Assoc.
At a recent meeting of the Ladies’
Golf Association of Lakeside Coun
try Club, Mrs. Carroll White Cope
land wws elected to serve as presi
dent for the coming year.
Other officers elected were Mrs.
Edwin A. Parnell, treasurer; and
Mrs. C. E. King, secretary.
The association holds luncheon
meetings the first and third Tues
days of each month.
Bride-Elect Honored
With Party Saturday
In compliment to Miss Margaret
Ann Bolide whose engagement to
Herbert Glennie Tarbox, Jr., of
Georgetown, has recently been an-
mfunced, Mrs Robert M. Vance en
tertained with a bridge party on
Saturday afternoon.
Attending from Winthrop were
Misses Betty Jo Goodman, of Harts-
ville; Sally Schumpert, of Cheraw;
Janice Timmons, of Newberry. Miss
Lillian Hart and Miss Florence
Winn, who were at home from Ag
nes Scott College, Decatur, Ga.,
Miss Anne Baker of Limestone Col-
legeg, and other local friends made
up the guest list.
Spring arrangements featuring
daffodils and quince formed a back
ground for the four tables in play.
For the serving of a salad course
following the games each table was
centered with a grouping of four
pastel bridesmaids holding mints.
These were given as party favors.
The bride-elect’s mother and grand
mother, Mrs. Julian S. Bolick and
Mrs. A. K. Dill, were invited to join
the group for refreshments. Mrs.
Caldwell Henderson, Mrs. George
Cornelson and Mary Bailey Vance
assisted in serving.
fScore prizes went to Misses Bar
bara Roberts and Julie Bolick. The
bride-elect was presented with a
corsage and a gift from the hostess.

Gadsden Girl Is Bride
of Former Clintonian
Gadsden, Ala.—A wedding of un
usual beauty and simplicity was
solemnized in Central Methodist
Church in Gadsden, Ala., at 10:30
Saturday morning, March 12, when
Miss Mfertha Rose Hanson, of Gads
den, and Milton Barrett Barden, of
Boone, N. C., were married.
Dr. John G. Barden, father of the
bridegroom,' assisted by Rev. O. S.
Gamble, pastor of the bride, offi
ciated.
The church formed a lovely back
ground for the bridal party with the
green palms and ferns and tall bas
kets of white gladioli and asters in
side the chancel. Two standards of
white cathedral candles were used'.’'
Prior to the ceremony a program
of wedding music was rendered by
Miss Lou Ellen Strain, organist, and

iel Westcott and the late John H.
Hanson, was given in marriage by
her step-father. Daniel A. Westcott.
She wore a fitted street-length
beige suit with a bronze orchid. Miss
Dianne Hanson attended her sister
as maid of honor. She wore a pow
der blue suit with corsage of white
carnations. Little Miss Susan West
cott, younger sister of the bride,
was junior bridesmaid. She wore
white organdy and carried a nose
gay of pink and white carnations.
Rev. Lawrence E. Barden, of Pel
ham, N. C.. was his brother's best
man. Lawrence Weeks. Jr, of Gads
den, ushered. The impressive double
ring ceremony was used
Mrs. Barden is a graduate of Bir
mingham-Southern College and is
now attending Vanderbilt Univer
sity in Nashville. Tenn., where she
plans to receive the Master of Arts
degree in June Mr. Barden is a
1 graduate of Pfeiffer College at Mis
enheimer, N. C., and is now teach
ing science in the Madison Senior
High School. Madison, Tenn.
Following the ceremony, the par-
: ents of the bride entertained at a
: wedding breakfast at their home.

card club for a dessert bridge. Two
tables were appointed for refresh
ments and a sweet course was
served when the guests arrived.
Following the progressions high
score award was presented Mrs.

made a pretty setting for the games.

Theme Is Carried
Out For Luncheon
Carrying out a St. Patrick s Day
theme, Mrs. Leonard Wilson. Mrs.
Robert W. Anderson and Mrs. Ed
Sader beautifully entertained with
a luncheon on Thursday at the Mary
Musgrove Hotel.
A green shamrock on the buffet
table was flanked on either side by
white floral arrangements About
90 guests were seated at tables in
groupings of eight. These were ap
pointed with ivy and tiny shamrocks
which were at each place as favors.
The menu also carried out the
chosen party motif.
