Sara Louise McGee celebrated her fifth birthday by inviting nine little friends for a party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe *W. McGee. The white birthday cake was dec-* orated in pastel colors which were also used in other appointments for the occasion. Party horns' and bal loons added to the festivities and candies were given as favors. The cake was cut and served with ice cream. Coming from out of town for Sara Louise’s birthday were Mrs. Vivian Vaughn of Belton, Misses Sara and Margaret McGee and Mrs Glenn McGee of Anjjefiwr;’" Mission Chairman Is Luncheori Speaker Mrs. Paula W. Patrick, of Rock Hill, Diocesan mission chairman, was the guest speaker for a luncheon meeting of the Women of All Saints Episcopal Church held on-Monday at the home of Mrs. J. B Hart in Joanna. Dutch iris and pom-poms in a hand made ceramic bowl centered the buffet luncheon table. On small tables where covers were laid for guests the Japanese theme was further carried out with place cards holding miniature umbrellas. Jap anese figurines with greenry were placed in the center. Mrs. James Addison and Mrs. Goyne Simpson assistffl Mrs. Hart in serving. Following the luncheon Mrs. Pat- rfek talked on the mission projects for the year and showed slides made on a rectnt trip to Japan. Mrs. George M. Abbot, of Long Island, N. Y., who is spending some time with her daughter. Mrs. David S. Cook, was a guest for the lunch eon. Miss Blakely Honored at Party Saturday morning Miss Margaret Blakely honored her niece, Nancy Arrington, with a party on the occa sion of her eleventh birthday, invit ing twelve little girls. Each, friend remembered Nancy with a gift. Games, including “Bug,” were played at card tables in the living room. Later the young guests were invited into the dining room where a decorated birthday cake was cut from a prettily appointed table and served with accessories. <• New Davidson/ Baptist Church Parrish-Wells Wedding Scene The wedding of Miss Betty Lou- cresia Parrish and Edgar Eugene Wells, Jr., on Friday evening, Jan. 29|f was the first to be held in the new D a v i d "s o n Street Baptist Church. The service was conducted by the Rev. Clyde Peterson, pastor. Both the bride and groom are graduates of Clinton High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Chester Parrish of 92 Palmetto Street, and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Wells of 406 Davidson Street. Miss Janice Goss and Miss Theda Sublett provided music, and ushers were Donald Wells, the 'groom’s brother, and Tommy DeYoung. The senior Mr. Wells was best man, and Mr. Parrish gave the bride in marriage. Miss Carol Parrish, of Aiken, the bride’s niece, served as maid of honor, wearing pink accessories and carrying a nosegay of pink and white carnations. The bride’s white lace dress over antique taffeta featured a matching bolero. She wore a fingertip veil and carried an orchid on a Bible. For travel she chose a coral suit with black accessories. Upon their return from the North Carolina mountains the couple is re siding with the bride’s parents. Mr. Wells is with the South Car olina Highway Department. lean Wolfe Has Birthday Party In celebration oi her fifth birth day which occurred January 17, Jean Wolfe was given an afternoon party on January 16 at Lakeside Country Club. Decorations and party appoint ments were in a pink and white motif. The forty-two little friends attending were presented hats, horns and candj/ baskets as favors. Centering the white birthday cake which was decorated with pink roses, Was a spinning ballerina with full pink net skirt. Also adorning the cake were five miniature ballerinas. Ice cream, cookies and pink lem onade were served. Assisting Jeans' mother, Mrs. James E. Wolfe, were her grand-, mothers, Mrs. H. H. Wheeler and Mrs. E. C. Wolfe, of Laurens, and also Mrs. C. E. King of this city. Abbeville and Laurens Counties Delta Gamma here on Sat urday,"Feb. 6. Delta Kappa Gamma is an honorary teachers organiza tion. The group will convene at Mary Musgrove Hotel for a one o’clock luncheon. Guest speaker for the oc casion will be Miss Grace Sease.of Prosperity, a member of the Co lumbia City Schools faculty, and will address the group on the sub ject of guidance. Miss Rennie Hook of the Lander College faculty, is president of the organization and will preside. Music will be furnish ed by Miss Delle Wilder, a senior at Clinton High School. Mrs. Adair Hostess To Study Club Mrs. R. C. Adair was hostess to members of the Wednesday Study Club the past week at her home on West Walnut Street. r Program for the afternoon was given by Mrs. Robert S. Owens who discussed the pure food and drug laws in the United States. Topic of study for the club for the year is “American Heritage.” Mrs. J. M. Dick, of Raleigh, N. C., and Miss Barnett Spratt of this city were club guests for the meet ing. Following the program the hos tess served a salad course, cookies and coffee. For the occasion early spring flowers and shrubs decorat ed the receiving rooms of the home. Odds and Ends Club Entertained On Wednesday afternoon of the past week the Odds and Ends Club was entertained at the home of Mrs. Hubert Todd. Co-hostess with Mrs. Todd was Mrs. George Watts Cope land. Carnations and chrysanthemums were used in decoration in the re ceiving rooms of the home. During the delightfully informal afternoon salad And sweet courses were serv ed, with Mrs. Clyde Todd assisting the hostesses in serving. Miss Nannie Young Tribble, pres ident, presided and books were ex changed during a short business ses sion. Mrs. George Thompson Cope land was a club guest for the after noon. RED PHONE 927: January Meeting Ladies 'Bible Class The January meeting of the Ladies Bible Class of the Associate Reform ed Presbyterian Church was held on Monday, the 24th, at the church, with Mrs. Marion Nabors, Mrs H. A. Copeland and Mrs. Harold Cole man as hostesses. A chapter, “I’d Start Again,” was taught by Mrs R L.. Plaxico from the.study book, “If I Were Young.” Later during a social hour hot tea, sandwiches and cake were enjoyed. ARP Women Conduct Study Wednesday A stewardship and mission study, “To Whom Much Is Given,” was conducted on Wednesday evening of the past week at the Associate Re formed Presbyterian Church by the Woman’s Missionary Society. Mrs, C. Bynum Betts and Mrs. A. B. Blakely are stewardship and spiritual life chairmen for the two circles. Mrs Blakely presided. Oth ers taking part on the program in cluded Mrs R. L. Chqpman-Humphries Rites Performed Rev. and Mrs. Rufus Lee Power, of Chesterfield, former residents of this city, announce the marriage of their daughter, Joyce Power Chap man, to Robert Humphries, of Clin ton, on January 2, 1960. The mar riage was performed at the Laur ens County Court House by the pro bate judge, J. Hewlette Wasson. Mr. Humphries, who is an airman second class stationed at Donald son AFB in Greenville, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Denton Humphries of j this cUy. The young couple are making their home in Mauldin. Ruth Hodges Is Honored By Mother Using a pink and white color scheme, Mrs. Robert C. Hodges en- ; tertained twelve little folk in cele bration of the third birthday of her daughter, Ruth, in the Kindergarten room of the All Saints Episcopal Church on January 26. Each little guest wished Ruth “Happy Birthday” aid gave her a birthday gift. A beautifully iced birthday cake held three gleaming candles.
