January Meetings
The January^ meetings of the cir
cles of the Associate Reform Pres
byterian Church were held on .Mon
day. *
In the afternoon Mrs. John Car
ter was hostess to circle No. 1 with
Mrs. A. B. Blakely leading the
Spiritual Life program. Several
members discussed articles from
the Synodical Journal. Later Mrs.
Carter served fruit cake, nuts and
punch. i
The evening group met at the
home of Mrs. George Thompson
Copeland. Mrs. C. Bynum Betts, as
sisted by Mrs. Marion Nabors, Mrs.
James P. Sloan and Mrs. J. P.
Johnston, presented the program.
During a social hour following the
business session refreshments were
served.
Prevotte Home Scene
Of Holiday Parties
During the holiday season Mr.
and Mrs. Ted Prevatte were hos
tess to groups of friends on two oc
casions for coffee, at their home
on Musgrove Street.
About 40 guests were invited for
the delightfully informal events.
Seasonal decorations were used in
the living and dining rooms where
a .table was appointed to serve
coffee, sandwiches, cookies and
other dainties.
The staff of radio station WPCC
and their families enjoyed a party
at the Prevatte home. Gifts were
exchanged and a number of appro
priate games played. Later in the
evening refreshments were served
in buffet style from the dining ta
ble prettily adorned in a seasonal
motif.

Scene of Drop-In
Enjoyable among social events of
the New Year season was the drop
in given on Tuesday evening of the
past week by Mr. and Mrs. W. G.
King, Jr., at their home on Chest
nut Street. •
A number of friends wef£ enter
tained throughout the, receiving
rooms with a buffet refreshment
table being appointed in the dining
room. Gold fruit and candlej/form-
ed the centerpiece for the table and
elsewhere the New Year motif was
effected with candles and bells in
green and gold.
Assisting in serving and enter
taining were Mr. and Mrs. W. G.
King, Mr. and Mts. Gene King.
The hosts’ sister- and brother-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Cruick-
shanks of Alachua, Fla., were hon
ored guests for the occasion.
Also assisting were Kristi and
Jan King and Sandy Cruickshanks.

SON OF CLINTON NATIVES WEDS
LAKELAND GIRL IN BAPTIST RITES
In a double ring ceremony Friday
evening December 18, at
o’clock Miss Jeanne Gallman be
came the bride of George A. Addy
at Eastside Baptist Church, Lake
land, Fla. The Rev. J. M. Schultz
performed the marriage in a can
dlelight illuminated setting of
palms, baskets of white magnolia
leaves, triple poinsettias and seven-
branched candelabra.
Parents of the bride are Major
and Mrs. H. E. Gallman, 146 Mock
ing Bird Lane, Lakeland, and Mr.
Addy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.
A. Addy, 2504 East Peachtree St.,
Lakeland. They are both graduates
of Lakeland High School. He is a
graduate of Florida Southern Col
lege, and she attended Limestone
College, Gaffney.
A program of traditional wed
ding music was presented by Mrs.
Patricia Mills, soloist, and Miss
Judi Sullivan, organist.

er, the bride wore a formal taffeta
gown with a fitted basque bodice,
a scooped neckline applicftied with

bouffant skirt, which extended into
a 'Cotillion train, was also appliqued
with lace, seed pearls and sequins.
Her fingertip veil of illusion was at
tached to a cap of lace, and her
bridal bouquet was a cascade ar
rangement of. white orchids and
lilies of the valley.
Miss Cheryl Holloman of Gaffney,
maid of honor, wore a formal gown
of frost green taffeta with a scoop
neckline outlined with shirred taf
feta and a full skirt with an over
skirt of matching net. She wore a
small bow hat of matching taffeta
and brief white gflfves. She carried
a nosegay of red poinsettias sprin
kled with glitter, nestled in a red
net and tied with satin ribbon.
Gowns and accessories of Miss
Gwen Barnes and Miss Jo Ann Pow
ell, bridesmaids, were identical to
those of the honor attendant.
The bride’s mother wore a sheath
dress of rose and white brocade,
and the bridegroom’s mother chose
a light blue dress of embroidered
dacron with full skirt. Both mothers
chose accessories to match their
dresses and wore white orchid cor
sages. ■ J
Bill Melin of Polk City, was best
man. Groomsmen were Jimmy Ad
dy of Laurens, and Willie Prescott
of Lakeland. Bill Crawford of Lake
land, and Arlie Powell of Bowling
Green, were ushers.
A reception was held at the Tues
day Music Club building. A tiered
wedding cake was centered on a cir
cular table covered with-a white
satin cloth overlaid with tiers of net.
The punch table was covered with a
white satin cloth and held appoint
ments of silver and crystal.
Among those assisting at the re
ception was Mrs. James Addy of
Laurens.
When the couple left for a wed
ding trip the bride was wearing a
coral and gray wool suit with
matching accessories and the or
chids from her bouquet.

the purchasing department of the
city hall, and Mr. Addy is an ac
countant with Kraft Foods.
