Henry and Mrs. Claude Crocker were in Charlotte, N. C., on Tuesday to attend the Carolinas-Virginia fashion exhibit. • Mrs. J. D. Sowell of Paducah, Ky., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. George W. Clarke, and Mr. Clarke. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Law and son, John, will attend Parents Day and the PC-Citadel game on Saturday in Charleston and will visit their son and brother, Charlton Law. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Taylor, Jr., and sons spent Sunday in Spartan burg with Mrs. Taylor’s parents, Mr. and Mrs G. H. Hudgins. IMPROVING Friends of Dillard Jacobs, who underwent the fifth in a series of op erations on his arm on Friday at Self Memorial hospital, Greenwood, will be interested to know he is im- ^proving. His arm will be in a cast for three weeks after which grafting will be done and he will receive therapy Mrs. Inez Pruitt has returned af ter spending two weeks in Florence with her daughter, Mrs. Wallace N. Meggs, and Mr. Meggs, and in Co lumbia with her brother, C. W. Ma- haffey, and Mrs. Mahaffey. While Miss Jean Gettys, student at Le- noir-Rhyne College, Hickory, N. HOSPITAL PATIENT Friends of Mrs. J. K. Haselden will be interested to know that on Tuesday she entered Anderson Memorial Hospital where she will undergo an operation. Miss Linda Bridges, student at Furman University, Greenville, spent the week-end with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Bridges. She was accompanied by a class mate, Miss Betsy Lee of Shelby, N. C., and Furman. Guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Black were Mr. and Mrs. G. Arthur Black and daughters, where they attended the Tampa-PCl game. Jury Rules Child Shot By Mother Laurens—A coroner’s jury wound Thursday morning that 2-year-old Gwendolyn Boyter came to her death by gunshot wounds inflicted by her mother, Mrs. Margaret Boy ter. The jury recommended that the grand jury make a thorough invest igation. The little girl, an adopted child, died of wounds inflicted by 18 bul lets fired at close range as she slept in a crib in the Boyter home in the Fork community last Friday mor ning. Laurens County deputies carried the girl’s mother, who has another child of her own, to the State Hos pital shortly after the shooting. About 100 persons crowded into the small frame Mount Olive school building Thursday for the inquest, conducted by Magistrate Troy Da vis of Waterloo, acting coroner in the absence of Joe Smith. Laurens Sheriff C. W. Wier assisted in the questioning. FHA Bi-County Meet November 14 The Future Homemakers of America wil have the annual fall meeting Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Ninety-Six High School, with Ware Shoals acting as co-hostess.
