C., Thursday, October 1, 1959 Negro Woman Killed in Four-Vehicle Collision Near Here Saturday Here is the scene of a four-vehicle collision on the Spartanburg high way late Saturday afternoon when a 29-year-old Negro woman of Hinton was killed. The death car is at the left, off the road, after it collided with the truck show’n at riKht. The car next to the truck was passing along thn highway near the collision and was not involved. The other two ear> were damaged in the accident. The collision occurred when the four er..-;e- proceeding toward Hinton and the third car attempted to pa"> the tirst ca: and the tru< k. and had to pull back into the lam* to avoid hitt.r.i the tar. the driver of which was making a left tutn. causing the pile-up. The death t ar. also shown at right, was the fourth vehicle :n bn-. >— ~torv r >e- low.—Photos bv Dan Vartyorough On the Square First Polio Clinic Scheduled Friday The first of a series of four polio clinics in Clinton will take place Friday and others will following in November and December. The last will come after a six or seven- month waiting period. The Friday clinic will be held in a trailer on the public square, and hours will be from 9:30 a. m. to 6:00 p. m. A $1.00 fee will be charged, but no one will be turned away who cannot pay, it was stated. The shots will be administered by Dr. V. A. Long of the County Health Department and his nurses. The Clinton Lions Club is sponsoring the clinics and is buying the vaccine. The club requests the cooperation of all agencies in getting children and adults who have not had the Salk vaccine shots to attend.
