Pitts, Mrs. BiU Milam and Miss
Wynona Ray. as hostesses.
The chairman, Mrs. James Bur-
hardt, presided over the business
session and Mrs. Julian Coleman
led the program, using as the theme
“There’s A Light Upon the Moun
tain.”. A dialogue, “ Alive In Such
An Age,” was also presented by
Mrs. Coleman and Miss Elizabeth
Copeland.
A salad and sweet course with
punch was served dihing the social
hour
Century Club Begins
Study of Africa
The first meeting of the fall sea
son for the Century Club was held
no Tuesday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. Joseph M. Gettys.
Mrs. W. Redd Turner, president,
presided. The club has selected as
a topic for study for the year, Afri
ca, and Mrs. John Harris gave the
paper for the afternoon. She told
something about the native people of
the country and the early settlement
made by the Dutch and English up
until the time of the Boer war.
A guest of the club for the after
noon was Mrs. Yves L Wickham of
Paris, France, who is visiting her
sister, Mrs Edouard Patte.
