He is a member, elder, clerk of the
session, superintendent of the Sun
day school and trustee of the Little
River - Dominick Presbyterian

He is a member of Clinton’s Cope-
land-Pavidson Post 56 of the Amer
ican Legion. Worshipful Master of
Magnolia Masonic Lodge, 355, and
president of the Battery B Reunion
Association.

Two'veterans who spark the Pres
byterian College passing attack have
been elected football co-captams for
the 1959 season opening here Sat
urday night.
They are quarterback Bob Waters
of Sylvania. Ga.. and end Paul Chas
tain of Central. Both are senior let-
itermen, and they’ll need all their
experience in leading the Blue Hose
against the powerful East Carolina
forces scheduled to invade Clinton
this week-end.
Waters ranks among the top quar
terbacks on the South Carolina grid
iron scene He proved himself a
capable ball handler and signal
caller during the past two seasons.
Bu it is in the passing department
that his statistics shine/brightest.

sidered the best receiver among the
Presbyterian flankmen. His sticky
hands have been a mainstay of the
passing attack in past campaigns,
and he will be counted on even more
heavily this fall. The 6 foot, 1-inch
Central native also is considered a
sound defensive end. He’ll be even
harder to turn this year, with his
weight up to 185 pounds.

Mrs Vengrer Hemes Simmons,
46. wife of Robert L Simmons, died
suddenly Monday morning at her
home near Clinton after several
vears of declining health
She was a native of Enorre but
had lived in Laurens County a num
ber of years She was a daughter of
Mrs. Florence Nelson Hames and

of Ridge Springs.
Funeral services were conducted
at 4 00 p m., Saturday, at Nazareth
Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg
