She was accompanied home on Tuesday by her brother, George Ma son, for a visit. Mrs. R. E. Sadler and Mrs. Wil liam Bailey Owens spent Friday with their sister, Mrs. Ben Martin and Mr. Martin in Easley. Friends » will be interested to know Mrs. Mar tin, who has been a patient in Duke Hospital, Durham, is convalescing at home. FROM BALTIMORE Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Denson and daughters, Sidney Ann, have re turned to their home in Baltimore, Md., after a visit with the former’s mother, Mrs. W. S. Denson. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Thomas, Miss Kay Thomas, Mrs. Davis R. Holland with Mrs. Joe Johnson, of Joanna, attended the Southeastern China, Glass and Gift show in Atlanta last week. The Rev. and Mrs. Joel E. Can non and daughters, Katherine and Joel, spent a few days last week at 4 Lake Junaluska, N. C., where the former attended the pastor’s confer ence. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sowers are spending a two week’s vacation at their cottage at Bat Cave, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Casque and family, of Marion, spent last week at the lakeside cottage of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Casque on Lake Green wood. COLEMAN REUNION SUNDAY The family and friends of the late Absalom and Matilda Coleman will hold their annual reunion Sunday, July 26 at Camp Fellowship, Lake Greenwood. Everyone is asked to bring a picnic lunch and sweeten ed tea. Capt. and Mrs. Dan S. Ferguson t and children of Columbia^ were guests on Friday of Capt. Fergu son’s sister, Mrs. Chris Adair, Jr., and Mr. Adair. VACATION IN FLORIDA Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mauldin, Barry and Anita, Mrs. W. R. Gambrell and Robert have returned fro nva vaca tion trip to Waycross, Ga, and points of interest ni Florida. In Win ter Haven they visited their sister, Mrs. Harold DeGroot and Mr. De- Groot who accompanied them to Miami for several days. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Orr and fam ily attended the Orr family reunion in Hickory, N. C., on Sunday. Mrs. Milford Smith and daugh ter, Gail, left Sunday for a three weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Jones in Blacks burg. While away they will also spend some time at Myrtle Beach. On August 1 they will attend the wedding of her brother, L. E. Jones to Miss Jan Booth in Conway. RETURNS FROM ABROAD Mrs. C. W| Stone has returned from a two months stay in England and Europe. She was accomfianied on the trip by Mrs. Alma Midley of Bennettsville and Mrs. Earl Bethea of Dillon. She spent some time with her son, Major Ned S. Hays and family in London, who accompanied her on a two weeks tour of the con tinent. Also while away Mrs. Stone went on a two weeks Norwegian Cruise. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Milam, of Lees burg, Fla., their daughter, Mrs. Ce- ril Dye, of Orlando, Fla., were guests a few days last week of M. D. Milam, Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Ballard and other relatives. ON WESTERN TRIP Mr. and! Mrs. Marshall W. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Jacobs are on a trip to Colorado and other western states. Mr. and Mrs. James Austin Chandler and children of Atlanta are spending the week with the formers’ mother, Mrs. Austin Chandler. '<» Lemon Cheese PSe 1 package lemon pudding 4 tablespoons sugar and pie filling 1 package (8 ounces) cream cup sugar cheese, softened 1 cup water 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 egg yolks ] baked 9-inch gingers nap 1 cup light cream crumb crust 2 egg whites Combine pie filling m ; *\ H cup sugar and Vi cup of the water in a saucepan. Add egg yolks and blend well. Add remaining Vi cup of water and the cream. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil and is thickened, about 5 min utes. Cool only about 5 minutes, stirring once or twica. Beat egg whites until foamy throughout. Add 4 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating after each addition until blended. Then continue beating until mixture will stand in peaks. Fold cooled filling into cheese, blending well. Add vanilla and mix wdl. Fold into meringue. Pour into cooled pie crust. Chill 1 hour. Garnish with pineapple rings cut in thirds and then halved to make thinner. Place between pudding and edge of crust. Add center garnish of remaining gingersnap crumbs and pineapple slices, cut in thirds, if desired. Mrs. Frank Miller spent the week end in Camden with her daughter and son-in-law. Jankusky and children, of Chicago, 111., Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis and children, of Newberry, have returned to their homes after being called here the past week due to the death of their father. W E. Falls. Billy Falls, of Lewistown. Mont., is spending ten days here. Mrs. Olin Furr and son, Robert, leave tomorrow for ,3 three weeks visit with theft daughter and sister, Mrs. W C. Freeman and Lt. Free man at Fort F.ustis, Va. Mr. Furr and Ferrell will join them the lat ter part of the week. RETURN FROM CAMBODIA Mr. and Mrs. Marvin S. Turner and son, Steve, have returned to their home here on North Adair Street to spend some time after a stay of two and one half years in Cambodia, where Mr. Turner serv ed as superintendent on a road building project. Mrs. Hugh Smipson, Mrs. Frank Miller, Mrs. W. C. Shealy, Mrs. Henry Young, Mrs. Gus Hollings worth, Mrs. W. C. Baldwin, Mrs. Hubert Pitts. Mrs. W. R. Pitts. Sr., are spending a few days this week in Highlands. N. C. Mr and Mrs. Jack Jeans and chil dren, of Atlanta. Ga , were here last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Jeans. Linda and Jenny Red are guests of their aunt, Mrs Tom Barksdale in Gray Court for a few days, l Mrs. F. M Stutts has returned from a several weeks stay in Raleigh and Fayetteville, N.C., Wil liamsburg. Va.. and other points of interest in Virginia. Her daughter, Mrs. Ed Walters and children of Raleigh accompanied her home for a visit. Dickie will remain for sev oral weeks. Mr and Mrs. Van Jones and chil dren have returned from a vaca tion stay at Myrtle Beach. COLLEGE MARSHALL Miss Betty Jane Hamer, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs R P Hamer of this city, a rising junior at Winthrop College, has been selected to serve as a college marshall next year Mrs. L. J. Brandt and children, tylartha and Susan. Mrs. James Webb and daughters. Judy and Jean of Asheboro. 1^ C., were guests last week of the former’s parents. Dr and Mrs. B. 0 Whitten at their Lakeside cottage. Carol and Susan King, daughters of Mr. and Mrs C. E. King, will return this week from Montgomery. Ala., after a month’s visit with their grandparents, Mr and Mrs T. E. Kin$. Mr and Mrs Charles F.stes and children, of Lineolnton, Ga.. were guests Sunday of Mr and Mrs Frank Ramage. VACATIONING Mr. and Mrs. W. R Pitts, Jr . Billy and Diane. Mrs Fred Pitts and Eleanor are vacationing this week at Garden City Beach. Mrs. John W. Little has returneo from Columbia where she was the guest of Mrs. F. E Jordan for a week’s stay. Friends of Mr. and Mrs C. E.
