AT CONFERENCE Rev. Giles Lewis is attending an Episcopal church conference at Pet- erkin Conference Center, Romney, West Virginia. On May 30 he will go to Philadelphia to join Mrs. Lewis and daughter, Henrietta, who are visiting her parents. Ronnie Moore.^son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry M. Moore, who attends Carlisle School, Bamberg, is at home for a few days. He leaves to morrow’for Kings Mountain, N. C., where he will be a life guard at the national park for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Hughes had as week-end guests Miss Maranna a Ellison, of Anderson, and Miiss Rita Huggins, of Clemson. VISITS SON Mrs. J. C. McSween, of DeFun- iak Springs, Fla., is spending some time here with her son, Harry Y. McSween and family. Mt. and Mrs. Rutledge Adair, of Rock Hill, visited Mrs.. Adair’s father, Homer L. Henry, on, Sun day. Mrs. John B. Rickets, of Green ville, was an overnight visitor dur ing the past week with her sister, Mrs. Robert E. Wysor and Miss Margaret Kent Bell. M* and Mrs. L. 0. RAY JACKSON AT HOME SP4 Ray Jackson, of Fort Bel voir. Va., is spending a IS-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W T. Jackson. He will return to Fort Bel- voir June 1. Mrs. Zeno Craddock and Mrs. E. T. Woodruff visited their sister and Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King, accom panied by Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Phil lips. of Spartanburg, were in Co lumbia on Friday to attend the fu neral of their cousin, Mrs. R. A. Johnson. Mrs. John Cerney, of Atlanta, Ga., spent the past week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Trib ble. Also visiting her parents dur ing the week-end were M!r. and Mrs. Ed Wills, of Williamston. RETURNS TO PANAMA Airman 1-c Jimmy Nichols left Monday to resume his work with a weather unit at Albrook Air Force Base, Panama, after spending a 30- day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Nichols. He made the return trip from Charleston by plane. SPEND THE DAY PARTY On Wednesday of the past week Mrs. H. L. Eichelberger had as spend the day guests Mrs. James Keith, Mrs. John Townsend and Mrs. Dillard Watson of Anderson, Mrs. George Miller and daughter of Birmingham, Ala. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Phillips, of Spartanburg, were week-end guests of the latter’s brother and sister-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King, at their cottage on Lake Greenwood. Miss Shirley Staton, student at Winthrop College, Rock Hill, is at home for the summer with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Staton. AT SON’S WEDDING Mrs. Harold Shields left Monday for Providence, Rhode Island, where she will attend the wedding of her son, John Duncan Shields and Miss Kay Elizabeth Hellstrom on Satur day. Ronald Shields will go by plane today to Providence and will serve as an usher. Mrs. Shields and Ron ald will stop over for several days in New York on the return trip. Mrs. A. B. Cannon and Miss Eth er Todd, of Simpsonville, and Mrs. Virginia King, of Greer, were guests on Sunday of Mrs. Morgan Todd. Johnson and Mrs. Wilson Harris attended the Converse College alumnae luncheon and meet ing on Saturday in Spartanburg. Highlights of the occasion were a talk given by Mrs. Robert Adams (Helen Calhoun) of Columbia, artist and alumnae of the college and an exhibition of her paintings featuring Columbia, Pawley’s Island, Barn well and Charleston scenes. Mrs. Mary White of Charlotte, N. C., is visiting her brother and sister- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Brock- enbrough. Mrs. Leonard Wilson and son, Philip, left Saturday for a three- weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Broshears in Fort Branch, Ind. Mrs. V. 0. Werking of Orlando, Fla., and Miss Irene Snead of Gaff ney, were week-end guests of Miss Lily Yarborough and Mrs. C. D. Yarborough. Wyman Shealy, manager of the Clinton-Newberry Gas Authority, spent a few days last week on a bus- ines trip to Washington and New York. Mr .and Mrs. L. W. Alexander and children of Newton, N. James Arthur (Peanut) Smith, who is serving with the U. S. Navy in Puerto Rico, is spending a 20- day leave with his mother, Mrs. Annie Smith. Friends of Mrs. Ada Prather will be interested to know she is a pa tient in the Laurens County hospital where she underwent surgery on Wednesday morning. GO TO FLORIDA Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sherrill and children, Frank. PatU and Eric, leave tomorrow for Sarasota, Fla., where they will visit the latter’s parents. Mr and Mjs. H. J. New- burn. Mx.
