Ow- ings vs the South Carolina High way Department. The case was one of 14 remaniing on the docket. Several have been heard at this and preceding terms, e In addition to the highway cases, 27 other civil actions were listed at the beginning of the term on May 11. Several of these have been com pleted. On Monday, May 11, in the case of Petroleum Products Corp., plaintiff, vs T S. Crawford, defendant, Craw ford was awarded $2500 by a jury in a counter claim suit On May 12, in the case of the South Carolina Highway Depart ment, plaintiff, vs C. E. Harrison, defendant, the defendant was award ed $600 for right-of-way On May U a jury found for the plaintiff in the amount of $500 of actual damages and $1200 punitive • damages In the case of E. G. Byers, plaintiff, vs GAC Finance C*., do- Gold P Awards Go To Four Seniors PC Summer Session To Begin On June 9 Presbyterian College’s 1959 sum mer session will begin on June 9, Academic Dean George C. Bellin- grath announced today. Registration is set for that date, and the nine-weeks session will ex tend through August 7. Dr. Bellingrath said the PC sum mer school will offer 20 courses in these seven departments: econom ics, English, mathematics. TB Association Adopts Budget And Program Of Work The 1959-60 program of work for the Laurens County Tuberculosis Association was planned and a bud get of $6,559.00 for the year adopted at a directors meeting on Thursday afternoon, with 27 in attendance J. AUen Thompson, Jr., president, presided. Reports were made by Henry M. Paris, of the county an nual meeting, W. Paul Culbertson of the state annual meeting, Mrs. M M. Teague, secretary, and J. Hew. lette Wasson, of the budget and pro gram committee .The budget and program adopted -were based on a film strip, ‘Ap proved Principles,’’ presented by F P. Thompson. A fact-finding st u d y enttiled, ’’Your Community and Its TB Prob lem,” wiU be made by the associa tion. Four committees were named to gather and analyze information which will be the basis for future ac tivities of the association in its pro-' gram of tuberculosis control. I. Wilkes, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Wilkes of this city, has received a ten weeks scholarship to study in New York with the archi tectural firm of Voorhes, Walker, Smith, Smith and Harris. Ten students were chosen from 60 colleges east of the Mississippi and MY. Wilkes was one of three select ed from the South.
