I inkerp has return ed to her home here In the Young Apartments on Cleveland street after spending the past month In Newton. N. C., with her son, L. W. Alexander, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Childress and dau^iter, Laurie Gene, of Sumter, spent the week-end with Mrs. Chil dress’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Chaney. Among Winthrop college students at home during the week-end were Misses Jennie Addison, Margaret Ann Bolick, Betty Jane Hamer and Sara Pitts. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Allison and children of Lincolnton, N. C., were week-end guests of the former’s sister, Mrs. A. B. Stump, and Dr. Stump. IS IMPROVING Friends of H. L. Baldwin will be interested to know he is able to be out some after a.two weeks illness. Mrs. Lillie Meinnis and son, Jack McGinnis, and F. L. SeawTight vis ited the former’s sister, Mrs. J. P. McCarthy, who is a patient in a Co lumbia hospital, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R A. Knight of Bel ton, spent Sunday with her daugh ter, Mrs Miirphey Timmerman, and Mr Timmerman. Lt. Col and Mrs. W. W. Barnett, Jr„ had as their week-end guest Mrs. Luther D Bogan of Fori Lee, Va. Mrs. Bogan was enroute to Charleston to meet her husband who has just returned from Arabia. Misses Trecie Davis, Betsy Da vis, Bootise Horton and Elizabeth Glover spent Sunday at Winthrop College, Rock Hill, with the for mer's sister, Miss Wiley Davis. Mr. ana Mrs. E. L. Holland were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. James 1\ Smith and family in Co lumbia. Sp. t Horace G. Mann, who has been stationed in Hawaii the past two and a half years with an infan try unit, has returned to the States and received his discharge from the service. He is now making his home w;th his mother, Mrs. Durward Murdock, and Mr. Murdock. IS IMPROVING Friends of Mrs. George Sineath will be glad to know she is im proving satisfactorily at the Self Memorial Hospital, Greenwood, following an operation there on Saturday. Mrs. Lollis M. Hardy and chil dren, Susie and Frankie Felknor, of Camden,"spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Frank Miller. Mrs. J. C. Pace, formerly of Clinton, whb is connected with the South Carolina Employment office at Orangeburg, is here for two weeks with the local employment office. Among those attending the “Hol iday On Ice" show in Greenville Saturday were Joe H. Bonds. Mrs. Charles Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Hu ey Bonds Mrs Normas Wood of Talladega.
