B. Stump dis cussed “Sarah” at the January meeting of the Woman’s Auxiliary of All Saints Episcopal Church held Monday afternoon at the Parish House. Preceding the program Mrs Bai ley Dixon gave the devotional. Mrs. E. N. Sullivan, president, presided over the business session during which announcements were made concerning the convention to be hied in Camden on January 27; and World Day of Prayer February IS for which the Episcopal women will be in charge. Entertain Joinly With Drop-In Entertaining Jointly Mr. and Mrs. Edward Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. James Neal were hosts for a drop- in on Tuesday evening of the past week at the home of the former. Guests called between the hours of eight and ten. In the hall and living rooms greens were gilded and used with candles to carry out a gold color note. The dining room was beauti fully decorated, using a silver mo tif. Assisting in entertaining in tbe living rooms were Mr. and Mrs. George Cornelsoo, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McSween. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sherrill directed tbe guests in the hall and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Adair, Jr., were in the den. Mrs. Robert E Wysor, 3rd, served punch in the dining room where Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Howard assisted. Out of town guests included Mrs. Blake Gordon of Washington, D. C , Mr. and Mrs. George B. Brocken- brough of Endicott, N. Y. Mrs. Seose Hostess t To Lutheran Women The United Lutheran Church Wo men of St. John’s Church met on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. T. M. Scase, with Mrs. C. C. Smith as co-hostess. The opening prayer was givne by Mrs. J; R. Reynolds. Mrs. Floyd Bund rick led the program entitled “From A to U—Argentina to Uru guay.” Assisting were Mrs. J. E. Boyce, Mrs. Sease, v Mrs. 0. C. Woodruff. The scripture reading was given by Mrs. Smith, and tbe closing prayer by Mrs. F. M. Bo land. At the dose of the program a social hour and refreshments were enjoyed. ARP Circles Hold January Meetings The afternoon circle of the As- s o c i a t e Reformed Presbyterian Church held the January meeting Monday at the home of Mrs. George Thompson Copeland, with Mrs. Harrison Copeland as hostess. Topic for the month was “Spiri tual Life,” and Mrs. A. B. Blake ly led the program. She was as sisted by Mrs. Hubert Todd. Mrs. Irene Todd, Mrs. R. L. Plaxico, Miss Nannie Young Tribble, Mrs. Alma McKee and Miss Margaret Blakely. Following the business session, the hostess served a salad plate. Circle No. 2 met in the evening at the home of Mrs. James P. Sloan. Mrs. George Thompeon Copeland was leader of the sjpiri- tual Life program, with Mr*. C. Bynum Betts, Mrs. Marion Nabors. Mrs. L. M. About twenty-five friends, includ ing a number of college students at borne for the holidays, were invited for the occasion. She was assisted in serving and entertaining by her mother, Mrs. D. H. Roberts and sister, Miss Kay Roberts. Guests were invited into the din ing room for refreshments of punch, sandwiches and co&kies. A red or gandy cover overlaid the table which was appointed with a New Year arrangement. Elsewhere in the receiving rooms holiday decora tions were used. On Wednesday evening Miss Kay Roberts entertained twelve friends for a New Year’s party. Dancing was enjoyed and refresh ments were served in buffet style during the evening which came to a close after guests welcomed the New Year. Miss Mi mi Martin as sisted tbe hostess in the courtesies of entertaining. Party appointments followed the traditional New Year theme. Young People Enjoy "Bam Dance" Party A “barn dance” party was given on Monday evening of the past week by Misses Jane Ann and Wiley Da vis at the Wadsworth Club house assembling about sixty-five young people Guests included a number of college students at home for the holidays, with the girls and boys coming in appropriate dress of cot ton skirts, jeans and bright color, ed shirts. Bales of hay with wagon wheels, lighted lanterns and crockery were used to effect a “country hoedown" setting. Square dancing was enjoy ed during the evening, assorted sandwiches and cookies served. Chaperoning the group were pa rents of the hostesses, Mr. and Mrs. T. Randolph Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence F. Davis. Bridge Party Given For Visitors Here Mr and Mrs. George H. Brock enbrough entertained a number of young couples on Friday evening for bridge for their son and daugh- j ter m-law. Mr. and Mrs George B Brock enbrough, of Endicott, N. Y., at theu- home, “Capers Acre*,’’ in: Kinard Mr. and Mrs Thornwell Dunlap. Jr, of Greenwood, were I also out of town gueat* for the' party. Former Teacher Here Married Decembr 22 Honeymoon in Florida The “Rev. Marshall B Dendy heard the marriage vows of Miss Frances Turbyville Leonard of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Reid- ville, and Bill C. Rabenau of Davie, Fla., Dec. 22 at 2:00 p m at Anti och Presbyterian Church, CashviBe. " Mrs. Rabenau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Agnew W. Leonard of Reidville, teaches at Norcrest Ele mentary School at Pompano Beach. She was formerly a member of the Thornwell school faculty. Mr. Rabenau is the son of Mrs. J. A. Douglas of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and the late Carl P Rabenau. His best man was Walt Sterling of Fort Lauderdale. Ushers included Col. John S. Has sell of Myrtle Beach; Lt. Charles Metcalf of Greenville; W. K. Mel ton of Union; and W. A Leonard of Duncan, the bride’s brother. Bridal attendants were Mrs. John Hassell of Myrtle Beach; and Mrs. B. A. She car ried a lace handkerchief which had belonged to the groom's grandmo ther, and wore a lavalier of her great-grandmother. Her veil was attached to a half-hat of sequins and pearls, and her flowers were roses around an archid A reception was held at the home of Mr and Mrs. W A Leonard, brother and sister-m-lau of the bride, in Duncan. After a trip to Bermuda the bride and groom will live in Davie, Fla . arriving there January 2S. The large central table was over laid with a family heirloom cutwork cloth on a yeBow satin lining Lac quered leaves and brilliant glass balls reflected the light of tapers in silver candelabra*, giving the room a festive air of the New Year. Miss Rachel Arm Wilson Entertains Friends With Party Miss Rachel Ann Wilson enter tained thirty-five friends with a party on New Year's eve at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. CecU P. Wilson. The mantel in the living room was arragned with a bouquet of yellow' and white gladieii on one end and a Happy New Year greeting in gold letters on green ribbons on the other. A large white bell adorned the hidl chandelier. In the den and recreation porch multi-colored balloons, confetti and horns used in decoration added to the festivity of the occasion. The string was clipped and the balloons descended to be popped as the new year arrived. Favors were also given the guests. A booth was set up for fortune telling by Mrs. James Buzhardt, dressed as a gypsy. A special fea ture of the evening was a flashlight dance with the last couple, Linda Milam and Jerry Lewis, being pre vented miniature flashlights During the evening guests were nvited into the dining room for refreshments which were served in buff* style.
