Mason To Represent County At Carillon Ball Laurens—Beautiful young Augus ta Mason has been named by Sen ator Robert C." Wasson to represent Laurens County in the annual: Car- i Ion festivities this year. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. I. Mason, of Laurens. Miss Mason will be presented to Governor George Bell Timmerman at the an nual Carillon Hall in Columbia on Nov. 28 and will represent Laur ens County in all of the festivities of the day. The Carillon is a statewide festi val ushering in the Christmas season in South Carolina's capital city. It begins with a morning parade, starting at 9:30 a. m., features a ■ mid-day luncheon, and is capped with the dancing of the Carillon B?U in the evening. As the official sponsor of Laurens County, Miss Mason and Sen. Rob ert C. Wasson will participate in all of these functions. She is a senior at the University of South Carolina. Her escort for the Carillon activities will be King Dixon, of Laurens, and the Univer sity of South Carolina. State President, Others Attend Ladies Night Clinton Exchange Club The state Exchange Club presi dent, Claude Rhodes and Mrs. Rhodes, of Columbia, were among special guests for the annual ladies night celebration of the local club on Tuesday evening. The event was held in the ball room of Hotel Mary Mnsgrove which was beautifully decorated for the occasion in shades of yellow carry ing out a Thanksgiving theme. A yel-1 low cover overlaid the buffet table! which held a fruit and floral ar- j rangement. Tables laid for groups of eight, held tall yellow tapers flank-1 ed by turkey containers filled with chrysanthemums. A smorgasbord' dinner was served. Rentz, 80. of Beaufort, a former resident of Clinton, died last Thursday in a Charleston hospital from injuries received in an auto mobile wreck the preceding Satur day. Mir. Rentz operated the Clinton Hotel here for a number of years and at the time of his death operat ed an apartment house in Beau fort. He is survived by his wife. Mrs. Bessie Bunch Rentz. who is a pa tient in Posey Nursing Home in Orangeburg, and one brother. Kis- ler Rentz. of Dade City, Fla. Funeral services were hold and burial took place on Friday in Ebrhardt. Baptist Young People Will Meet Tonight The Laurens Baptist Associations!
