Black was hostess for bridge the past week. Chrysanthemums, dahlias and zin nias were prettily arranged in the cahd rooms. Between progressions sandwiches, cold drinks and cookies weer enjoyed. When scores were counted prizes were presented to Mrs. Thomas F. Hollis and Mrs. Harry Baldwin. Methodist Women Have Mission Study Joining with die Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Hopewell Methodist Church, the women of Broad Street Church held a mission study course the past week at the Hopewell church. The topic of study was “The Mid dle East.” On Wednesrday and Fri day afternoons Mrs. Huqh Bonds Workman and Mrs. Cyril Hamm taught the study. Thursday a panel of five from Broad Street church gave a discussion on the "Five Dominant Religions of the Middle East.” Taking part were Mrs. Paul M. Muller, Mrs. Roy Casque, Mrs. Howard Smith, Mrs. Sam McCrary and Mrs. Wilmot Shealy. The fourth session of study will be given at the regular monthly meeting of the society on Monday afternoon, November 10. A church-wide study on Isaiah, taught by the Rev. Joel E. Cannon, pastor, has tentatively been set for January. 'Thank Offering” ARP Circle Topic Circles of the Woman's Mission ary Society of the Associate Reform ed Presbyterian Church hear pro grams on ‘Thank Offering” at the November meetings held on Mon day. Circle No. 1 met at the church in the afternoon with Mrs. Hubert Todd as leader and Mrs. W. B. Trib ble as hostess. As a part of the pro gram several members discussed articles in the Synodical Journal. Later the hostess served sandwich es, cookies and punch. Members brought their thank offering boxes which were opened. Mrs. R. L. Plaxico, Jr., was hos tess to circle No. 2 at her home in the evening. Mrs. Bennie B. Blakely, assisted by Mrs. Nolon Carter, Mrs. George Thompson Copeland, Mrs. James P. Sloan, Mks. J. P. John ston and Mrs. C. Bynum Betts pre sented the program. , During the business session plans were made for the week of prayer November 10-14. A social hour was enjoyed and the hostess/Served a sweet course with coffee.' \ Dicky McSween Is Honored On Birthday Dicky McSween was honored on his third birthday October 24, with a party at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McSween. Fifteen little friends enjoyed out door games and refreshments with 'party hats and favors adding to the merriment of the occasion. A yellow motif was used in decorations and for the birthday cake. Jr., wore Joint hostesses to the United Lutheran Church Women of St. Johns Church on Monday evening at the home of the former. Prayer by Mrs. F. M. Boland opened the program and Mrs Work man gave the scripture reading. Mrs. T. M. Sease led the discussion on “The Gospel According To One Womai" and taking part were Mrs S. P. Bowers, Mrs. L. Allen Wertz, Jr., Mrs. J. E. Boyce. t During the business session re ports on the Piedmont Conference held in Spartanburg in October were given by Mks. 0. C. Woodruff, Mrs. Boland and Mrs. Bowers. Later a social hour and refresh ments were enjoyed. Jr, was seven years old Tuesday. November 4. In celebration of the occasion she invited twenty boys and girls for an afternoon party. October 38. at 4:10 o'clock at Broad Street Methodist Church The bride is the daughter of Mrs Floyd E. Ballew of this city and J. L. Clements, of Vidalia. Ga. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs A. R. Ivester of this city, White and yellow mums and pot ted palms decorated the church for the double ring ceremony which was performed by the Rev J. W Spillers. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. James Pitts, or ganist, and Mrs. Julian Coleman, soloist. The traditional bridal chor us and wedding marches were used and Mrs. Coleman sang “Because” and “The.Lord's Prayer.” The bride wore a grey costume suit, white and grey feather cloche hat, matching accessories and j white orchid. Miss Toni Stroud, of Joanna, at tended the bride. She wore a light blue suit with fur collar, blue feath er hedd band. Her flowers were a white carnation corsage. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The groom chose as best man his cousin, Charles Whit worth, of Toccoa. Ga., a student at Georgia Tech. Both the bride and groom and 1958 graduates of Clinton High School. Mr. Ivester is stockroom manager at Winn-Dixie Store They are residing at 209 South Broad St. PROMOTED Friends of Robert L. Cason will be interested to learn of his recent promotion to the rank of first lieu tenant. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E.
