M. L. Campbell of Columbia, has
been named group manager for the
Clinton area by Southern Bell Tele
phone Company, succeeding I. A.
Edwards, who becomes Aiken group
manager on November 1.
A native of Prattville, Ala.,
Campbell joined Southern Bell in
1951 following his graduation from
Auburn. He has held a variety of
positions in Atlanta and Columbia.

At present he is rate engineer in the
Company’s state headquarters in
Columbia.
He served in the army from 1945
to 1946 and again in 1951.
Mrs. Campbell is the former Ma
bel Deason of Prattville. The Camp
bells are members of the Kilburn
Park Baptist Church, where he is
on the Junior Board of Deacons.
Edwards, a native of Sumter and
a graduate of the University of
South Carohna, came to Clinton as
manager htree years ago. He began
his telephone career at Charlotte in
1949 and has since served in Co-
I u m b i a, Spartanburg, Greenville,
and Charleston. During World War
II he was a pilot in the U. S. Air
Force.
Active in civic affairs in Clinton,
Edwards is a past resident and di
rector of the Junior Chamber of
Comerce, state director of the Caro-
linas United and vice-president of
the Community Chest. He is a mem
ber of the Lions Club, the Chamber
of Commerce, the American Legion
and Lakeside Country Club.
He is a member of the First Bap
tist Church here .

W. E. Braswell Family Dinner
The family of Mr. and Mrs. W. E.
Braswell of Caldwell St, enjoyed
a family dinner and gathering on
Sunday to bid farewell to A1C and
Mrs. Bobby Braswell and son, en-
route back to his base in Califor
nia. They have been visiting rela
tives here on furlough. Members of
the family present were Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Griffin and children of
Ware Shoals; Mr. and Mrs. Wirt
