New York after a week's visit with “Lady Reporters” from the 48 states and Alaska. She
was chosen to represent South Carolina by The Greenville News and Spartanburg's sta
tion WSPA-TV, joining with the Columbia Broadcasting System in sponsoring the event.
The “Lady Reporters" appeared on several T\ shows, made tours of the city, attended
luncheons and dinners, and enjoyed other activities. Mrs. Turner sent daily newspaper
stories while she was away.

Sloan; and Mrs. Frances Warner, of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the
latter two presenting bouquets, took part in the welcoming ceremonies.

The Clinton youths, identified as
Melvin Calvert, 29, and Frank
Peavy, 27, have been charged with
robbery and assault and battery
with a deadly weapon. The sheriff
did not say what the weapon was.
The sheriff said Mr. Williams told
of a hectic ride after two men had
forced him into their car at the

highway.
According to Mr. Wilhams’ story,
