June 5, 19S8 County Records Outstanding Bus Driver Thornwell's Homemakers Present Fashion Show Thornwells Montgomery Hall was recently the scene of a fashion show presented by tht Tbomwell Chapter of tht Future Homemakers of Amercia The production uas en-> titled “Fashion Show Boat.” and took place on a beautifully decorat- ed show boat w hich was designed I by Mrs L. R Anderson, art three-[ tor at Thomwell. The girls stepped from the deck of the show boat, down the gangplank modeling pret ty frocks which they had made The show boat theme was earned throughout the program Jane Wofford was the charming’ •'how boat captain and narrator for the evening. Shipmates Donna Wickham and Tommy Woodfin por trayed pickaninnies and carried posters identifying the various dock ings of Fashion Show Boat- Mem bers of the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades participated as passengers and modeled garments which they made in their home economics classes. At Dock I dresses suitable for church and street wear were pre sented Modeling church and street dresses were Mary Ann Woodfin Nora Lee Dodgen Allen* Dodger Ann ( nrme*. Mildred James. Bett> Mi Murray Mary Mynck. Bonny I H uttb am affitamt imam fn VI V Him k sit. Jean Abrams, and Nancy Jean Bur ris. Several of the girls designed and made matching hats and bags. At Dock 11 tailored wool suits were modeled by Elise Lee. Jenny McClellan. Mary Ann Woodfin. No ra Lee Dodgen, and Allene Dodgen. Dock HI presented school dress es modeled by: Eileen Brock, Jero- line Stewart. Shirley Felker. Patsy McAbee. Della Parsons, Annie Lee Bowen and Patncia Vaughan. Party fashions were modeled at Dock IV. These stylish dresses were modeled by: Lillian Cookson, Lucy Beck. Linda Tyler. Elise Lee. Jenny McClellan. Mary Mynck, Bonny Jean Abrams, Annie Lee Bowen, and Patsy McAbee The Last docking of Fashion Boat was most unusual for it presented future designs in the form of mock fashions The girls designed these future fashions themselves using articles suggestive of dress Mo dHing the space dress was Nora Lee Dodgen the box jacket. Hoyt Bailey, of the public relations and safety division of the S. C. Highway Department. Several prizes^ and gtfts“Wefe awarded to members of the club during the evening.
