Rev. Lewis S. Hay of the Presby
terian College faculty, attended the
rally of the Young Adults of Enoree
Presbytery Sunday at the Second
Presbyterian Church, Greenville.
The Rev. Mr. Hay took part on the

Mr. W. L. Marhall of Wadesboro,
N. C., is visiting Mrs. W. L. Mar
shall, Jr., and Mrs. C. M. Bailey.
Frank C. Sherrill spent several
days last week in Charlottesville,
Va., where he attended meetings at
the Institute of Textile Technology.
Mr. Sherrill is technical superin
tendent of Joanna Cotton Mills.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Ellis of
Greenville, were week-end guests of
the latter’s sister, Mrs. George
Brockenbrough, and Mr. Brocken-
brough.
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King spent a
few days last week at Garden City
Beach with the former’s sister,
Mrs. Harry Phillips, of Spartan
burg. Enroute home they visited
their daughter and son-in-law, Mr
and Mrs. Alex Cruickshanks. in Co
lumbia.
Mrs. John W. Little was the
week-end guest of her sister, Miss
Irene Curlee, in Winnsboro.
Dr. and Mrs.'R. H. Dawson spent
the week-end at the Isle of Palms
with the former’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. L. J Dawson.
Mrs. Ansel B. Godfrey attended
a meeting of the South Carolina
Rose Society in Columbia Friday.

ed his mother, Mrs. B. Frith, a few

Dr and Mrs. David Tribble and
children of Otis Air Force Base,
Mass., arrived Tuesday night for
a week’s visit with the former’s pa
rents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Tribble.

Path, Mr. and Mrs A L. Haupfear
of Coronaca, Mrs. Bobby Black and

Mr and Mrs. Julian Bolick spent
the week-end at their summer cot
tage at Pawley’s Island. On Friday
Mr Bolick attended a meeting of
the W i n y a h Indigo Society in
Georgetown.
Billy Davis and Ted Davenport,
I students at Clemson College, spent
the week-end with their parents and
also visited friends at Winthrop Col
lege.
Mrs. A A. Tolbert was the week
end guest of Mrs. W A. Upchurch

is spending several weeks in Lynch

Joe Dailey, Clinton High School
senior, won second place in the
South Carolina Junior Chamber of
Commerce Road-E-0 at George-
towii last week-end
Dailey, the son of Mr and Mrs.
L. P. Dailey, scored 412 points out
of a possible 565. 'He received a
plaque from Charles Reid of Green
ville, state Jaycee Safety Chairi
man.
Goodge Deer, of Pawley’s Island,
was winner of first place with 444
points. He was presented a $500
scholarship by the Pure Oil Co at
the awards bnaquet and will also
represent the South Carolina Jay-
cees in the national Jaycee Road-E-
0 in Washington, D. C.
There were 42 entrants in the
Road E-0 which began Saturday af
ternoon. The contestants were win
ners in community driving events
sponsored by various Jaycee chap
ters,. '
A written test and in-town driv
ing tests were administered Satur-

Cemetery.

William R. Brown,
Long Branch Section,
Passes On Tuesday
William Rodger Brown, 73, died
early Tuesday at his home in the
Long Branch community near Clu>
ton after several years of declining
health
Mr Brown was a native of Lau
rens County where he spent hts en
tire life He was a son of the late
William Penn and Eugenia Madden
Brown He was a member of, the
Long Branch Pentecostal Holiness
Church where he served on the
board of deacons for a number of
years He was married twice.
His first marnage was to Miss
Annie Jxiu Duvall who died a num
ber of years ago.
Surviving are his second wife,
Mrs Annie Bell Poole Brown, two
sisters, Mrs Minnie Brown Blakely
and Mrs. Bessye Brown Bradshaw,
