Mr. and Mrs. Quinton Chapman and son, John Mason, of Charles ton, are visiting their parents, Mr and Mrs. C. E. Chapman in Mount- ville and Mrs. J. W. Donnon here. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Kugler and daughters, Barbara and Patsy, of Myrtle Beach, spent the week-end here with Mrs. Kugler’s parents, M'r. and Mrs. C. C. Giles. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Long and small son are occupying the resi dence at 200 Cedar St. Mr. Long is a student at Presbyterian College. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hammond, of Elberton, Ga., spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Julian M. Bell and family. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Templeton and daughter, Miss Miriam Temple ton, were recent guests of their daughter, Mrs. Donald Mann and Mr. Mann in Lake Wales, Fla., for several days. Mr and Mrs J. Karl Johnson and Karl Johnson. Jr., of this city and Clemson, were in Yemassee Friday to attend the wedding of Miss Bar bara Taylor and Charles Hall, of Aiken. The Johnson's daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bry ant, of Darlington, were members of the weddirtg party Mrs. Bryant who was the bride’s roommate et Win- throp, served as a bridesmaid and Mr. Bryant sang. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Smith and sons, of Columbia, were guests Sun day of the former’s brother and sis ter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. James A. Smith. W. J. Lee attended a toll test school of the Southern Bell Tele phone company in Columbia last week. Miss Jill Shuford, of Atlanta, Ga., and Miss Jackie McDonald, of Charlotte and Limestone College, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Horne and attended the Military Ball and dances at Pres byterian College, ROTC and fra ternities. Mir. and Mrs. John B Jordan and children of Martinsville, Va., visit ed the latter’s parents. Col. and Mr.s Robert E. Wysor this week while enroute to Columbus, Ga., for a few days stay with Mrs. Jordan’s sister, Mrs. Benjamin F. Ivey and Captain Ivey. C. , Friends of Mr. and Mrs. C. E King and daughters, formerly of Bessemer, Ala , will be interested to know they have returned here to make their home, and will re side on the Greenwood highway. Mr. King plans to enter business in Laurens. Mr^and Mrs. Andrew S. Ho ward recently spent a few days in Charleston as guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Hay. Friends of H. P. Cromer of Crass Hill, will be interested to know he is a patient at the Vet erans hospital in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Sturgeon and children, of Isle of Palms, spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. H. E. Sturgeon. \trs. W. W. Harris, accompanied by her daughter, Miss Cornelia Har ris, of Columbia, attended the wed ding of Miss Ann Hart and Roy Armstrong Little, of Columbia, in York Saturday afternoon. They also visited their sister and aunt, Miss Margaret Bethea in Fort Mill. Mrs. James Macdonald and chil dren are spending the week in Charleston with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Rivers T. Jenkins. Mrs. William P. Jacobs left yes terday to spend a few days in Rock Hill as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Sims. Mr and Mrs. William M. Shields have returned from a several days business trip to Charleston. Miss Eileen Conway, of New York, spent last week a$ the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Sadler Mr. and Mrs. John T. Heyward, of Rion, were dinner guests on Tuesday evening of Mr and Mrs. J F. Ja cobs. Mrs. J. W. Montgomery, of Me- bane, N. C., formerly of this city, is spending a few days here with Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Hughes. Dr. and Mrs. S. C. Hays and other friends. Miss Carolina Miller of Atlanta, student at Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Ga., was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs C. E. Nich ols and attended the ROTC Mili tary Ball and dances of the Pres byterian College fraternities Mr. and Mrs J. H. Scarborough and daughter. Linda, of Wisacky, Mrs. James M Pitts and daugh ter, Jackie, of this city, were guests on Sunday of their sister Mrs C. A. Holland, and Mr Hol land Wallace Franks, who has been a patient at the Veterans hospital in Columbia for a number of weeks, spent the week-end at his home here Mr. and Mrs James Huston Mann and son. "The Stardusters" Win First Place In Talent Contest The School Bus Transportation Club of Clinton High School spon sored a talent contest composed I of seventeen acts last Friday eve ning to raise funds for a banquet at the end of the year. Jake Rasor’s orchestra. “The Stardusters,” won first place after playing their theme song/ “Star dust” and “Prom Jump.” Joe Dailey, club president, presented their trophy. Perry Simpson coming in se cond for his ventriloquist act, re ceived his trophy from Bud Turn blin, ex-officio president D. B. Smith, local merchant, announced acts and provided hu mor in between. Other contestants were Mary Cunningham, piano solo; Sandra Ray. baton twirling act; Eugenia Byars, song. Valene Morse, stilt walking; Carolyn Stevenson, song; and the Echos, a band conducted by Jerry Kail ✓- Dixie Couch and Dianne Spencer tap danced; Anegla Clements and Susan Terry sang; Dianne Led ford tap danced and sang. Dolly Crouch directed the Rol- lettes in a tumbling act. Edgar Everett’s band, the Rocketeers, played “Raunchy.” Cecilia Mc Lendon played a piano solo, and the Red Toppers, David and Hart well Cromer, played a guitar du et Judges for the program were Mrs- Lavinia Cooley, Mrs. R. Wilder, Carroll Poole, and Charles E Burnett Appeal Made For Family The local Red Cross office is making an appeal for clothing and household furniture for a local white family who recently lost ev erything by fire. The family conssits of mother, father, and three children.
