same number of polio patients in 37
counties in South Carolina during
1957 as was true in 1956.
The annual fund-raising campaign
which is currently being held pro-*
vided aid to 484 patients in 37 South
Carolina counties in 1957. The same
number was aided in 1956 in these
counties.
Wilmer Sim* state representative
for the National Foundation lor In
fantile Pqfalysis said, ‘‘You can see
from these statistics that the Foun
dation’s patient care program con
tinues to be an expensive item.”
He said that the state had more
polio cases in 1957 than it did in 1956
and that a number of local chapters
of the Foundation annually run out
of funds.
He said that the 37 chapters which
appeared in the statistics actually
