tin announce the engagement of
their daughter, Mary Edna, to Jes
sie Theodore Ellison, son of Mrs.
Jessie T. Ellison and the late Mr.
Ellison. The wedding will take
place on Sunday, August 4.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Campbell an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter. Dawn Priscilla, to James
William Sease, son of Mrs. Thomas
M. Sease and the late Mr. Sease of
this city. The wedding will take
place August 17.
Bride-Elect Is
Honored With Party
On Friday morning Miss Dawn
Campbell entertained with a soft
drink party in honor of Miss Mar
gie Ann Hudson, bride-elect of
the week.
Roses were attractively arrang
ed throughout the home. Guests
were invited into the dining? room
where refreshments were served
from a prettily appointed table
which was centered with arrange
ments of gladioli.
Miss Hudson was presented by
the hostess with a corsage of car
nations and twofold plaques.
Son of Former
Clintonian Is Wed
In Oak Ridge Term.
Miss Barbara Mason, daughter
•f Mr. and Mrs. James Hoyt Ma
son, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., became
the bride of William iLynn Slice,
son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Slice
also of Oakridige, on Saturday at
the Grace Lutheran Church.
Following the reception at the
church the couple left for a honey
moon through the south after
which they will live in Oakridge.
The bride’s parents—are—orig
inally from Augusta, Ga. The
groom is the grandson of the late
Will L. Lynn and Julia Briggs
Lynn. His mother was before mar
riage Miss Tee Lynn. He served
three years with the U. S. Marine
Corps, 18 months in Japan and
Okinawa. After his release from
service last summer he entered the
University of Tennessee in - the
fall. -
Informal Party
Honors Couple
An informal supper party for
Miss Eloise Marshall and Joseph
H. Cutchins who will be married
Saturday, was given on Friday
evening by Mrs. H. M. Wise of
this city, Mr. and Mrs. James L.
Switzer at the Switzer home in
Union. A number of Clinton
friends and relatives enjoyed the
occasion.
A buffet supper was served on
the lawn and later bingo was
played.

Fete Bride-Elect
Among social events honoring
Miss Eloise Marshall, bride-elect,
was the luncheon given on Satur
day at the Hotel Mary Musgrove
by Mrs. Eugene Johnson and Mrs.
James Von Hollen.
Four tables were arranged in T
shape for the luncheon and place
cards holding tiny silver wedding
bells tied with pink desginated the
guests places. Two silver wedding
riiftgs entvyined on a pink and white
floral base fashioned the center
piece for the bride-cleat's table.
Smaller replicas adorned the other
tables. White organdy covers over
pink were used. A three course
luncheon was served and memen
tos of heart shaped saches of taf
feta and v tulle with the wedding
data were given the guests.
The honoree was presented a
corsage and a gift of silver. Mrs.
Richard Lukstat, a recent bride,
was also remembered wjth silver
in her chosen pattern.
Dahlias, gladioli and pom poms
shading from pink to lavender
were used in arrangements for the
dining room.

Engagement—
Mrs. V. F. Garcia, of Kingman,
Ariz., announces the engagement
of her daughter, Romelia, to Air
man 1st Class Bobby L. Branson,
soh of Mrs. J. R. Branson, of this
city. The wedding will be held
after .Airman Branson completes
a tour of duty with the 670th
Aircraft Control and Warning
Squardon at San Clemente Island
Air Force Station in California.

Engagement
Mrs. Wilma Madden Spearman,
of Laurens, announces the en
gagement of her daughter, Judith
Gayle, to Charles David Watts,
son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hud
gens Watts, Sr., of Clinton. The
wedding plans will be announced
later.
Banning-Rogers
Engagement
Mr. and Mrs. Owen Banning, of
4114 Oakdale St., Brevard, N. C.,
announce the engagement of their
daughter, Patricia Ann, to Clar
ence Donald Rogers, son of the
Rev. and Mrs. C v B. Rogers, of
Cross Hill. Their wedding is to
be solemnized July 21 at the First
Baptist Church in Brevard.
Miss Elaine Crocker
Honored at Luncheon
Miss Elaine Crocker, of Joanna,
who will be married Sunday, was
honored on Wednesday of the past
week when Mrs. Claude A. Crock
er and Mrs. James Von Hollen en
tertained with a buffet luncheon at
the R. C. Adair home.
Twenty friends were invited for
the occasion and covers laid at
small tables arranged in the re
ceiving rooms. Place cards hold
ing ribbon attached wedding rings
and fever few in crystal holders
appointed the tables. The lunch
eon table held a beautiful floral
wedding scene and elsewhere in
th edining room were gladioli,
daisies and gardenias to accen
tuate the bridal green and White
color note. Daisies, hydrangeas
and roses in pastel tints were used
in other arrangements for the
rooms.
Mrs. R. C. Adair assisted the
hostesses in the courtesies of en
tertaining. The bride-elect was re
membered with a gift.

Tuesday afternoon from five until
six-thirty at the home of Mrs. T.
J. Leake.
Mrs. H. J. Pitts and Mrs. M. L.
Robertson greeted the guests and
receiving with the honoree and
the hostess were her mother, Mrs.
Paul T. Woods. Mrs. W. Roy Pitts,
Mrs. George H, Hodges and Mrs.
Roy Gasque.
Mrs. Raymond Pitts directed
the guests into ihe den where
Mrs. Nene D. Workman entertain
ed. Mrs. Murphey Timmerman
invited the guests into the dining
room where punch, dainty sand
wiches, cheese strawp and cookies
were served. The tea table, over
laid with a linen cutwork cloth,
held roses in beautifully blended
shades of pink and rose arranged
in a silver bowl, flanked by silver
triple candelabra holding lighted
pink tapers.

tertaining in the dining room

After the rehearsal on Friday
evening Mrs. J. B. Nicholson and |

with a party at the Lesh infirmary
assembling the wedding party and
close friends.
For the occasion the Living room
and 'gift room were attractively
adorned with hydrangeas, pink
yarrow and daisies.

traditional green and white color
note was used. Centering the lace
covered table -was a beautifully
iced and.embossed cake in pink
and white, triple tiered and topped
with a miniature bride and groom

Entertaining for Miss Eloise
Marshall whose wedding will take
place Saturday, Mrs. William P.
Jacobs, Mrs. W. P. Jacobs, 3rd,
and Mrs. Hugh S. Jacobs were
hostesses at the home of the for
mer ort Wednesday tfernoon of the
past week for a lovely luncheon.
Luncheon was served, buffet in
the dining room which was ap
pointed in pink and white. Pink
hydrangeas and roses were ar
ranged with fever few in a silver
bowl placed on a central reflector.
A white linen cut work cloth, cov
ered the table. Covers were laid
for 20 guests at small tables in the
receiving rooms. These were
adorned with gardenias in silver
dishes. . •
Roses, magnolias and dahlias
were used in the living room. Yel
low dahlias were arranged with
white gladioli for the music room
and daisies, zinnias and yellow
lilies were combined for the sun
porch.
The f honoree and Miss Susan
Thackston, July bride-elect, were
remembered with gifts.
Out-of-town guests for the
luncheon were Mrs. J. H. Cutchin,
Mrs. Jack Hagood, Mrs. L. M. Mc-
Bee and Miss Sara Smith, of Eas
ley, and Mrs. Amaryllis Phinzy,.
of Greenville.

three course luncheon on Thurs
day.
The party was given at the
Wilkes home which was beauti
fully decorated with pink roses,
gladioli, asters and snapdragons.
In keeping with a green and white
motif for the dining room the buf
fet table was adorned with a cen
tral arrangement of gladioli, fern,
fever few and canteberry bells
Mrs. Len Ledford and Mrs. Watts
Davis assisted in serving.
The honoree and also Miss Su
san Thackston, bride-elect,- and
Mrs. Earl Pitts, a recent bride,
were presented corsages.

Misses Margaret Ann Bolick,
Jennie Addison and Betty Jane
Hamer entertained for Miss Eloise
Marshall, bride-elect, and Mrs.
Richard Lukstat, a recent bride,
with a luncheon qn Friday at the
Julian S. Bolick home. Upon ar
rival corsages were presented the
honorees.
Mixed garden flowers added to
the attractiveness of the home. In
the dining room a bridal green
and white motif was effective, the
buffet luncheon table being ap
pointed with a crystal candelabra
holding green tapers. Nosegays of
white gladioli were arranged at
the base. Elsewhere in the dining
room magnolia was used and bou
quets of gardenias centered the
small tables where covert were
laid for the guests. A three course
luncheon was served.
Assisting the hostesses were
Mrs. Bolick, Mrs. James Addison,
and Mrs. R. P. Hamer.
