HERBERT WALLACE HUNTER BENNETTSVILLE CHURCH IS SETTING FOR McINTYREHUNTER RITES Miss Mary Rae McIntyre, ol Bermettsville and Columbia, and Herbert Wallace Hunter, orf Clin ton and Columbia, were united in marriage at the First Presbyte rian Church of Bennettsville on • Saturday evening, June 15, at 7:30. The toride is the daughter of Mrs. Woodward Manning Mcln- tyre and the Ukte Mr. McIntyre, bf Bennettsville. The bridegroom is the son of John Holland Hunter and the late Net Wallace Hunter of this city. 1 The double ring ceremony was used with Dr. I. M. iBagnal, the bride’s pastor, and Dr. L. C. La- motte, of Maxton, N. C., uncle of the groom, officiating. The groom’s father served as best man. ,/ o Ushers were John Holland Hun ter, Jr., brother of the groom, of Rock Hill; Thomwell Dunlap, Jr., Clinton and Charlotte; Henry Bur- edged in lace scallops. She wore a purple orchid corsage. Mrs. John Holland Hunter wore mauve lace over taffeta made on sheath lines with matching shoes and white gloves. Her flowers were also a purple orchid corsage. After June 24 the couple will be at home at Highland Park Apart ments, D-l, Columbia. Lovely Dinner Party For Betrothed Couple Among social courtesies extend ed Miss Eloise Marshall and Jo seph H. Cutchin, Jr., of Easley, since the announcement of their engagement was the dinner party given on Tuesday evening by Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Adair, Mr. and Mrs. Claude A. Crocker at the Adair home. 4 ( ' • f Blue hydrangeas and pink roses in mantel arrangement beautifully blended with living room decor, ydrangeas, roses and daisies in arrangements added attrac- to the sun room and porch. A green and white color note was observed in the dining room with bouquets of gladioli and gar denias and daisies, .flanked by white tapers in silver holders. An organdy cover over green caught at the corners 'with daisies over laid the buffet dinner table which was centered with a wedding scene having a floral base, white wed ding arch and miniature bride and groom. Place cards following the wed- j ding theme marked the guests places at small tables arranged in the receiving rooms. 'These were adorned with tiny crystal com potes filled with fever few. After dinner a card game, "Bridge Variation by Culbertson” was enjoyed. Novel programs bear ing names of famous lovers match ed the couples. Mrs. Bailey Dixon and Chris Adair, Jr„ were high score winners Gifts of china and silver were presented the couple. Telephone 74 or 495 Buffet Dinner At John W. Finney Home Precedes Rehearsal Proceeding the rehearsal on Fri day evening for the Skinner-Mc- Milkm wedding, a lovely buffet dinner was given for members of the wedding party and out-of- town visitors at the John W. Fin ney home toy Mr. and Mrs. Finney, Mr. and Mrs. W. ,A. Galloway, of West Paten Beach, Fla. The entire lower floor of the home was thrown ensuite and the gifts were displayed in one of the receiving rooms. Floral arrange ments included gladioli, hydran geas and dahlias in lavender tints. Pink and white were effectviely carried out in the dining room. White net over white satin cover ed the banquet top table where a central arrangement of pink rases and fever few was encircled with pink tapers in crystal candelabra. Miniature bouquets adorned the small tables where covers were laid for the guests. Among those assisting the hos tess were Mrs Gary Holcombe, Mrs. D. C. Heustess, Mrs. Hol combe, Miss Dot Taylor, Mrs. John W. Finney, Jr., and Mrs. J. P. McMillan, of .Lakeland, Fla. Entertains Friends For Bridge Luncheons Mrs. Robert E. Wysor, 3rd, en tertained friends with a bridge luncheon on Wednesday and Thursday of the past week at the home o»f Col. and Mrs. Robert E. Wysor on Maple Street. Wednesday guests were invited for four tables and luncheon wis served at 1 o’clock after which a number of progressions were en joyed. Mrs. James L. Walker and McCrackin. Jr , near Newberry:, was the scene of a lovely brides maids luncheon Saturday for Miss Betty Skinner. - A variety of Sufhmer flowers adorned the s-pacious rooms where covers were laid at small tables for the guests for the buffet lunch eon. Place Cards and miniature bouquets of phlox in crystal bas kets which were given the guests as favors decorated the tables Mrs. MoCrackin remembered the honoree with a corsage and a gift of china. The bride~recejved a twb year business certificate from Colum bia College, and is employed by Lawyers Abstract Co. The groom graduated Cum Laude from Pres byterian College and is employed by the Engineering Department of Southern Bell Telephone and Tele graph Co. Luncheon Saturday Fetes Miss Marshall ! Harrell, of BennettsviHe, organist and VVilliam L. Ginney, Jr., solo ist. Maid of honor was Miss Caro lyn B. Mclnytre, sister of the bride of Bennettsville and Colum bia. Bridesmaids were Miss Judith C. Banks, of Darlington and Co lumbia; Joye Breeden, Bennetts- ville; Ann S. Rigby, Bennettsville and Columbia; Mrs. James B. Hiers, Goluiribia; Mrs. Jimmie C. Baker, of Bennettsville, cousin of the bride; Mies Betty Jean Parks, of Bennettsville and Asheville, cousin of the bride; Miss Jimmie Ann Thomas and Margaret Hes ter, Bennettsville. Forrest Fowler Potts, of Columbia, and Nancy Re becca McIntyre, of Wilmington, N. C., cousins of the bride, were jun ior bridesmaids. The maid of honor wore a waltz length dress of coral nylon chif fon over taffeta. The-shirred torso bodice was fashioned with a sweet heart neckline fashioned in soft tucks and -enhanced by a wide drape that extended ever the shoulders and down the back fall ing to' the hemline of the full gathered skirt. ,$3he also wore a matching bandeau of horse hair braid finished in seed pearls with ircular face veil, matching shoes d short white gloves. The bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids dresses were fashion ed identical to that of the honor attendant in rainbow colors of pink, blue, yellow, Lavender and green, with matching bandeau, shoes and short white gloves. All the‘attendants carried white lace fans scattered with shasta daisies. The bride was given m marriage by her cousin, Arch Forrest Fow ler, of Bennettsville. Her bridal gown, a Galina original of white nylon tulle over taffeta was fash ioned with fitted bodice and por trait neckline outlined with Alan- con lace. The sleeves were short and she wore Short white gloves. The bouffant skirt accented by a perplum of pleated crystal tulle edged with lace extended into an aisle wide train. Her fingertip veil of imported illusion was attached to a coronet of orange blossoms that the bride purchased on a re cent trip to Nassau. T^he bride’s bouquet was of lilies of the valley, made cascade and centered with a white orchid. Immediately following the rites a reception was held in the social hall of the church. The bride’s mother wore frost ed tan silk organza over taffeta made on sheath lines and caught in back with a graceful bouffant bustle of chantilly type lace fall ing below the hemline forming a graceful short train. The three- quarter length sleeves were also of lace and the Sabrina neckline was Informal Tea Honors . Miss Elaine Crocker Honoring Miss Elaine Crocker, of Joanna, who will toe married to Walter T. Wilkerson, of Whtmire, at Lydia Presbyterian Church June 30, Mrs. James D. Bass en tertained with an informal tea Tuesday afternoon at her home on the Greenwood highway. Receiving with the hostess and the honoree was her mother, Mrs. W. D. Crocker. The bride-elect was presented a gardenia corsage. The tea table in the dining room was beautifully appointed with a large silver compote holding blue hydrangeas and pink gladiodi and triple silver candelabra with white lighted tapers. Mrs. Kelley Waits, of Joanna, served punch and lit tle Susan Brown served mints. As sisting in the dining room in serv ing fancy sandwiches, cheese bis-, cuits, and cookies were Mrs. Gary Holcombe and- Miss Mary Johnson. Also assisting in entertaining were Mrs-. Eugene Johnson and Mrs. Francis Blalock. Entertain Tuesday For Bride-Elect Complimenting Miss Eloise Marshall, popular June bride- elect, Mrs. Kenneth N. Baker and Mrs. Tom Addison entertained Tuesday at noon at the Hotel Mary Musgrove with a luncheon. Upon arrival Miss Marshall wa* presented a gardenia corsage. Guests included a number ^of young local friends of the hon oree. her mother, Mrs. W. L. Mar shall, Jr., and grandmother, Mrs. with bridal place cards ait the lovely luncheon table appointed, with white gladioli, gardenias and greenery in a white compote. Gar denias at intervals extended from the center arrangement and at each end were silver bells filled with the same flowers. A three course luncheon was served. Silver in the bride-elect’s cho sen pattern was the hostesses gift to her. MARRIED SUNDAY AFTERNOON Is Entertained Prior To Wedding On Wednesday preceding her wedding Saturday, Miss Betty Skinner was complimented with a drop-in by Mrs. L. A. Crawford and Mi£s Ruth Hair at the Craw ford home near Joanna. About twenty friends of the honoree were invited for the de lightful informal occasion in cluding Mrs. W. A. Galloway, of West Palm Becah, Fla., and Mrs. J. P. McMillan, of Lakeland, Fla., out-oLtown visitors'‘here for the wedding. _ Magnolia adorned the living room and in the dining room a green and white color scheme was carried out in the table bouquet of carnations and fever few in a crystal basket flanked by green tapers in crystal holders. Salad, sandwiches, assorted dainties, cookies and sherbert were served. * The hostesses’ gift to Miss Skin ner was crystal in her chosen pat tern and she was also remembered with a corsage. Party Tuesday Honors Young Visitor Here Honoring Nancy and Charlotte Owens, of Knoxville, Tenn., who are visiting their grandmother, Mrs. William Bailey Owens, Ann Addison entertained with a bingo party on Tuesday afternoon at the home of her aunt, Mrs. C. D. Nance. Twelve girls were invited for the occasion and enjoyed bingo and other fames with prizes awarded the winners. Later in 'the afternoon the dining room table was appointed for refreshments of sandwiches, cookies, cold drinks and other -party dainties. The couple left for a trip to Newport News, Va.. after the cere mony, the bride wearing a blue cotton princesse dress and crepe with white accessories. Mrs. Chaney was graduated from Laurens High School in 1H56. Mr. Chaney was graduated from Clinton High School and Southern Technical Institute in Atlanta. He is employed by Newport News Sh obuilding and Dry Dock Com pany. The couple will reside with the bridegroom's parents it 313 N Adair St. before moving to New pprt News July 22. ' s v Thursday Club Meets With Mrs. Ballard The Thursday bridge club met the past week at the home of Mrs. B. B. Ballard for a number of aft ernoon games. Daisies, pink, yellow and red roses made a pretty setting for the two tables which were ap pointed for refreshments. A sweet course, nuts and punch were served prior to the games.
