Laurens county fair grounds last
Wednesday and Thursday.
" The wool was sold on competi
tive sealed bids, the hgihest bid
der being the Nichols and Com
pany, Inc., Boston, Mass. R. W.
Woodbury was the official grader
of the wool at the sale.
There were 104 sheep producers
selling wool at the pool, coming
from Richland county to the most
northern counties of the state.
The producers were most pleas
ed with their sales. Prices paid
per 100 pounds of wool ran from
a low of $47.00 for heavy burry
wool to $65.50 for the fine wool
grade. Grades in between were
in accord with the grade.
This wool pool sale was the
first of its kind ever held in the
Piedmont area of South Carolina
or in the state, to the knowledge
of the writer.

delivered approximately 1,500
pounds of wool to the pool Mr.
Forbes is president of the South
Carolina Sheep Breeders Associa
tion.
A similar cooperative wool pool
sale was held at Kings tree on
June 3 and 4. The amount of
wool received being 11,504 pounds
valued at $6,762.62.

$3,905.66. Of this number sold,
250 were lambs which brought
$3,655.51. The other number, 36
head, were yearlings and old
rams.
The New England Dressed
Meat and Wool Company, Som

on grade.
Choice lambs brought $24.50
per 100 pounds; good, $21.00; me
dium, $17.00; common, $12.00; and
culls, $8.0Q per 100 pounds.
