Bell Yard Selected
"Yard Of The Month

The yard of Mr. and Mrs. G. W.
Bell, 207 Young Drive, has been
selected for June “Yard of the
Month” by the Gardenettes Club
and a plaque designating it has
been placed on the lawn.
The first week in each month a
committee from the club judges
and selects a yard to receive the
award.
Clinton's Legion
Team Wins Loses
In Opening Games
Clinton’s young Legion Junior
baseball team split the first two
games on their schedule, turning
back Laurens last Wednesday
night, 5-1, and losing to Green
wood on the Joanna field Monday
night, 10-1.
William Cabanass, 15-year-old
youngster from Whitmire, looked
impressive in his debut for Clin
ton against Laurens.
Billy Pace got the local boys off
on the right foot by homering ov^r
the right field fence, with a maK
on, in the first inning. Davenport
led the Clinton boys at the plate
with a perfect three for three, one
being a double. Cabaniss also had
two for three. Cooley and Nickols
chimed in with doubles
Horne and Ramsey looked good
afield for Clinton.
Hanley and Lemmon each had
two for four, to lead Laurens at
the plate. Barbery was the losing
pitcher.
Greenwood Routs Clinton
Playing without the services o;
four regulars, Cooley, Davenport,
Ramsey and Nickols, the Clinton
crew lost to Greenwood, 10-1.
Crouch took the loss for Clin
ton, but deserved a better fate.
Errors kept him in trouble. He
gave up seven hits and six runs in
the six innings he worked. Caba-
niss came on in the seventh inning
with no outs and a man on third,
and retired the next three batters
by strikeouts. He worked the
eighth inning, giving up one hit.
Collins took over in the ninth for
Clinton and gave up four runs on
two hits.
Billy Pace led the local boys
with three for four, including two

Godfrey pitched six-hit ball for
Greenwood, retiring 14 on strikes
James led Greenwood at the
plate with three for four, includ
ing a double. Lomax had two for
four.
This was Greenwood's third win
without a loss in league play.
Clinton has a 1-1 record.

ARP Church Completes
Week Of Bible School
A five day session of Bible
School was completed the past
week at the Associate Reformed
Presbyterian Church with Miss
Margaret Blakely as director
Twenty-seven. pupils were en
rolled and a perfect attendance
was maintained for each session.

of the studies which were taught
from nursery through pre-^een
level.
On Sunday the Bible School stu
dents presented a program for the
