Gilliland vis ited Mr. and Mrs. John Julian in Greenville Sunday. Woman's Club Holds Meeting The Woman's club held the regular meeting Monday evening, January 28, at the Community center. The meeting was called to or der by the president, Mrs. E. P. Taylor. The devotional was given by 1 Mrs. J. R. Reynolds. Those present heard an inspirational talk on church arrangements, by Mrs. A C. Young. Jr. After her talk she made a beautiful ar rangement, using yellow and white gladioli and pine. She also had two dried arrangements suit able for church. Refreshments were served buf fet style by Mrs. Edna Terry, Mrs. Joe Terry and Mrs. Edna Os borne. With The Sick ■ L. V. Fallaw is ill at his home on Gordon street. Mrs. Bill Campbell is a patient at the Joanna hospital. Mrs. Willie Rushton underwent surgery in Greenville General hospital Saturday. Paul Smith is a patient in Bla lock clinic due to an accident while working. Nathaniel Bentley is suffering, from a leg injury at his home on Prather Circle. Mrs. Horace Rogers is a patient at Hays hospital. Mrs. Martha Dover is a patient at Hays hospital. Joe Terry is-a patient at Hays hospital. James Thornton, of Anderson, was admitted to the Greenville General hospital Sunday. He is the brother of Mrs. Charlie Bark er and Lee Thronton. Mothers March For Polio Fund Members of the Woman’s club canvassed the community Janu ary 18 in the interest of the Polio Btruknight. Foundtaion. The members gath ered at the Community center at 6:45 to receive street designations. After the canvass was over mem bers returned to the center and were served coffee, cheese bis cuits and cookies by Mrs. Joe Terry and Mrs. Tom Norths. Young People Have Social On Saturday evening the Jun ior department of Calvary Baptist church enjoyed a social in the social hall of the church. After an hour of singing and games refreshments were served by' the hostesses, Mrs. Fred Tum blin. Mrs. Gene Butler and Alton Butler. There were 24 boys and girls" present for the occasion. Celebrates Birthday Mrs. Jack Cunningham honor ed heV little daughter, Pam, with I a birthday party on Jan. 30 Twenty-two little boys and girls enjoyed the occasion by playing several games. The hostess served pink and white birthday cake, cup cakes, colored ice cream cones and candy hearts. Party hats and balloons were given as favors. Each guest remembered Pam with a gift. Mr. and Mrs. James F. Julian and daughter, Ann, of Simpson- J. M. Bouknight Passes J. M. (Jim) Bouknight, 49, died early Friday morning a f t e r a brief illness. He w a s a native of Newberry county' but had made his home in l^urens county most of his life. He waa s son of the late J. H and Gertrude Livingston He was a member of Broad Street Methodist church. He was also a member of Camp bell luodge 44, AFM, of Clin ton. He was a textile worker. He was twice married, first to Mrs. .Ola Frazier Bouknight, who died in April, 1941. Surviving thus marriage are one daughter, Miss Judith Ann Bouknight, of Ninety-Six; and two sons, Robert E. Bouknight, of N inL 'ty-Six, and Stg. Ralph F. Bouknight, of the Marine Corps, Florida. Also surviving are his second wife, -Mrs. Mary Bragg Wallen- zine Bouknight; one brother, Roland C. Bouknight, of Sarasota, Fla.; three* sisters, Mrs. Narvis Sanders, of Pageland Mrs. George Hill, of Spartanburg; and Mrs. Hall King, of Clinton; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were conduct ed Sunday at 3:30 p. m. at Bailey Memorial (Southern Methodist church by the Rev. Kenneth E. Pollock and the Rev. J W. Spil- lers. Burial was in Rosemont cemetery. Pallbearers were Cecil Wooten, Earl Braswell, J. E. Braswell, Jr., R. C. Oxner, Charles Duna way arid Mayfield Copeland. The honorary escort consisted ot members of Campbell Lodge 44. of Clinton, and Van Oxner, George M Huguley, Joel. Cox, Floyd Bundrick, J. B. Temuleton. P. S.
