The bride is a granddaughter of
Mrs. George Henry Comelson. of
this city, and the late Dr. Cornel-
son, and of the late Mr. and Mrs
Walter Scott Montgomery, of
Spartanburg.
Mr. Johnston, an alumnus of
the University of Virginia and its
law school, is associated with the
law firm of Armstrong, McCad-
den, Allen, Braden and Goodman
in Memphis, Term.
He is a grandson of the late Mr.
and Mrs. George Howard Flowers,
of Covington, Tenn., and the late
Mr. and Mrs. Tliomas Hardin
Johnston, of Knoxville, Tenn.

Weds Mr. Johnston In
Spartanburg Church
The ^rotestant Episcopal church
of the Advent, Spartanburg, was
the setting last evening for the
marriage of Miss Rose Comelson
Montgomery to ^Thomas Flowers
Johnston. The ceremony was per.
formed by the Rev. Capers Satter-
lee, and music was rendered by
Sam Woodruff, organist.
The white- floral arrangements
on the altar were most impres
sive with large urns and baskets
filled with white lilies of the val
ley, snapdragons, carnations and
porr-pom chrysanthemums, and
the choir stalls were banked with
emerald palms and woqdwordia
fern. Cathedral tapers in seven
braViched candelabras illuminated
the stained glass windows. ,
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Scott Montgom
ery, of Spartanburg, and the
bridegroom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh Samuel "Johnston, of
Knoxville, Tenp.
The bride was attired in a gown
of Italian silk taffeta, princess
style, ending in a cathedral train,
with long sleeves and portrait,
neckline. Her bridal veil" was of
Brussels lace fashioned with clus
ters of orange blossoms. The bridal
bouquet was of stophanotis, lilies
of the valley, white rosebuds, and
miniature white orchids. She was
given in marriage by her father.
The bride’s attendants were
Misses Elizabeth Cart, of Spartan
burg, and EHoise Marshall of this
city, who are cousins of the bride,
and Misses Elizabeth Smith, of
Hickory, N. C.‘, Pryde Brown, of
Ridgewood, N. J., Caroline Chase j home.
Firemen Entertain
With Ladies Night
Members of the Clinton ffre de
partment entertained at the Amer
ican Legion home on Tuesday
evening with their annual ladies
night celebration.
Music was furnished during the
evening by the Three Kings. Fol
lowing the turkey dinner dancing
was enjoyed. '
The speakers table held an ar
rangement of red gladioli against
a Santa and sleigh scene and on
the other table were red and white
gladioli with spruce pine and red
tapers in wrought - iron, candela,

Mrs. f Montgomery was attired
in a full length gown of dusty pink
chififon, draped in Grecian lines
and fastened with brilliants. She
wore a matching veiled bandeau,
and her corsage was of orchids.
Mrs. Johnston’s choice for th$ eve
ning was a full length gown' of
mauve faille with a mauve head-
.dress. H^r corsage was of minia
ture purple orchids.
CVirs. Emma Bailfey Comelson,
grandmother of the bride, chose,
a full length gown of beige lace
and she wore a beige headdress.
Her corsage was of lavender orch
ids.
Mrs. Johnston, a graduate of!
Sweet Briar college in Lynchburg.
Va., also attended St. Catherine’s
School in Richmond, Va. She was

the holiday setting.
