Porter enter tained members of her bridge club on Tuesday afternoon at her home on Hickory street. Two tables were laid for re freshments and a sweet course was served prior to the games. Greens and red berries were prettily ar ranged in the living room. When scores were counted visi tors prize went to Mrs. Alex Cruckshanks and club awards to Mrs Gene McMullan and Mrs. W. L. Corbett. Bridge Club Meets Thursday Thursday members of her bridge club met at the home of Mrs. J B. Arnold for a number of afternoon games. Two tables were arranged for the games in a setting of marigolds and zinnias. During the afternoon a refreshment plate was served with lemonade. Mrs. T. C. John son, Jr., was presented award for top score. Presbyterian Women Hold Joint Meet The August meeting of the' Women-of-the-Church and circles! of the First Presbyterian church was held jointly Monday morning at the church. Mrs. John Stevenson led the de votional. Mrs. Frank Kellers gave the Bible study on the prodigal son. discussing the events from the point of view of the earthly father. * After a business session the Dessert Bridge For Tuesday Club , Tuesday afternoon of the past week Mrs. Frank Cauley was hos tess to her card club for a dessert bridge at the home of her mother, Mbs. Inez Pruitt. A sweet course was served when the guests, assembled and later during the games cold drinks and nuts were enjoyed Two tables were in play with High and second prizes going to two club visitors, Mrs Francis Blalock and Mrs. Jasper Rowland. Asters and African violets were used in decoration for the living room. Reporting Schedule For Florida St. Pupils All pupils entering Florida Street school for the first time are direct ed to enroll at 8:30 a m on Wed nesday, August 29 This includes all grades, one to five. Hogan Chapman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Manning Chapman, Laurens, was able to return home from Blalock clinic earlier in the week. Friends of Benny Huey, who was seriously injured in an automo bile accident and has bfcen a pa tient at Hays hospital for the past ten days, will be glad to know he was able to return to his Home this weak , ^ . . . . Wright,———- Mother Of Mrs. Cason, Passes At Hospital Mrs. Rebecca Gore Wright, 84, w idow of T. P. Wright, Sr , died Monday night at Hays hospital after several years of declining health and a critical illness of a few days. She was a native of Chattooga | county, Ga., and made her home j in Wilkes county, Ga , most of ; daughter, Mrs. L E. Cason, for i her life. She lived herp with her | several years.
