Campbell and Mrs. Marvin Gault, Jr., jointly en tertained friends for bridge on Fri day. Five tables were in play during the morping hours after which luncheon was served. Two addi tional tables were appointed for luncheon guests. Mrs. Francis Bla lock won top score and Mrs. Rob- Anderson second, were invited for a num- >f afternoon games following prizes were presented Mrs. Von Hollen, Mrs. Rufus ler and Mrs. William Jacobs, 3id. Salad and sweet courses were served later, the hostesses being assisted by Mrs. O. L. Carter, of Greenville, Mrs. Gault’s mother, and Mrs. William Crutchfield. Mrs. W. Y. Thompson, at Huston, La., was an out-of-town guest for the parties. - ' The card rooms were attractive with vari-colored garden flowers including zinnias and petunias. Committee Chairmen B6tPW Club Meet Mrs. Leila N. Johnson, presi dent of tjjie Clinton Business and Professional Women’s club, en tertained the officers and chair men of committees at supper on Thursday evening. A supper plate and dessert was served, after which plans for the coming year were made. Present were Mrs. S. M. War ner, vice-president, and member ship chairman; Mrs. Nathan Bra zil, recording secretary; Miss Margaret Blakely, international relations; Miss Wilma Adair', health and safety; Mrs. James Buzhardt, finance; Mrs. Earl Stewart, public affairs; Mrs. W. W. Harris, news service, radio, TV; Mrs. Mildred Bowers, sec ond vice-president, and program coordination. Other officers and chairmen not present were: Mrs. Glenn Gaskins, corresponding secre- atry; Miss Rose Lee, treasurer; Mrs. D. A. Yarborough, legisla tion; Miss Ruth Hair, efireer ad vancement; Mrs. B. M. Dutton, national security. Luncheon Given For Mrs. McMillin Entertaining for Mrs. John H. McMillin, of Inman, the former Miss Martharene Pitts. Mrs. W. Roy Pitts, Mrs. W. R. Pitts, Jr., Mrs. Lewis Pitts and Mrs. Fred Pitts were hostesses for a lovely luncheon at the Hotel Mary Mus- grove on Thursday. "The table was beautifully deco rated in yellow with a pale green accent. In the center of the long luncheon table were a bride And 1 groom beneath a wedding arch. 'On either side of the arch were yellow gladioli and satin ribbon bows. Sprays of gladioli and fern extended on either side of two heart shaped floral arrangements edged with green tulle. Place cards held yellow mums and fern for a miniature corsage for each guest, while the place of the honoree was marked with a yellow nosegay. Covers were laid for twenty and a three course luncheon was served. _ Other decorations included gol den glow in a brass container on the piano. Mrs. McMillin and Mrs. June Crisp Pitts who will be married soon to W. W. DeVenter, Com mander, United States Navy, of Washington, D. C., were remem bered with gifts. Other out-of- town guests included Mrs. Marvin Reasonover, of Camden, aunt of Mrs. Pitts, and Mrs. Crayton Mc- Cowan, of Inman, sister-in-law of Mrs. McMillin. Informal Party For * Newcomer, Visitor * Entertaining for Mrs. R. M. Fuller, who has recently moved to Clinton to make r her home, Mrs. James E. Wolfe invited a few friends to drop in yesterday morning for a coke party. Assisting Mrs. Wolfe in the courtesies of entertaining were Mrs. B. C. Preslar and Mrs. Jas per Rowland. Canapes, cold drinks and assorted snacks were served buffet in the dining room. Roses and dahlias were used with mixed garden flowers for the re freshment table and in decora- 1 tion elsewhire in the home. IV GRANDDAUGHTER OF CLINTON COUPLE WED IN NORTH CAROLINA RITES Miss Carolyn White became the bride of Dr. William Lord London, IV, at 5 p. m. July 14, at the Home Moravian church, WinstornSalem, N. C. , The Rev. James C. Hughes per formed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. C. Hege Kapp, organist, and Miss Suzanne DeLaney, harpist, presented wedding music. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She had is her at tendants her sister, Mrs. Edward H. Cleino, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., ma tron of honbr, Miss Jane Douglas Kelly, -Apex, N. C., maid of honor, and the Misses Helen Ren frew London, of Pittaboro, Jesse MoKeldon Carraiway, of Farmville, and Patricia Ann O’Day, of Win ston-Salem. The bride wore a gown of silk mist fashioned with an oval neck line of re-embroidered French lace appliqued with seed pearls. The bouffant Skirt extending into a court train featured an appliqued lace band. Her veil was of Brus sels lace. She carried a nosegay of stephonotis and pink demure Flora-bunda roses. The attendants’ dresses of tur- quofte nylon were made with square necklines, tucked basque and full pleated skirts caught with sashes of deeper turquoise. They wore matching headdresses and carried crescent bouquets of car nations ranging fro/fi pale to deep pink. Mrs. White’s dress of rose mauve tucked silk organza was designed with bands of hand run lace and an inverted pieat in the back of the sheath skirt. She used match ing accessories and wore a cor sage of aymbidium orchids. The mother of the groom wore an original model of rose beige A'Lencon lace, featuring lace bodice with round neckline and full skirt of silk marquisette over taffeta. She carried her corsage of cymbidium orchids on her hand bag. Arthur Hill London, LH, of Cin cinnati, Ohio, was best man. The ushers were Robert Nuel White, Jr., brother of the bride; Jack L. Jerome, Mooresville; Henry Je rome, Wilmington; Edwin B. Hatch, Pittsboro, and Dr. James Louis Lamm, Chapel Hill. Mrs. London is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nuel White, of Winston-Salem, N. C. Her ma ternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Alex O'Daniel, of this city, and her late paternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Nuel White, of Reidsville, N. C. She is a graduate of R. J. Reynolds high school and the University of North Carolina where she received her B. S. degree in nursing. Dr. London is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lord London, of PHtsboro, N. C. His maternal grandparents are Mrs. B. Of- Thompson and the late Rev. B. C. Thompson.' His paternal grand parents are Mr. Arthur Hill Lon don and the late Anne Forshee London. Dr. London attended Epis copal high school in Alexandria, Va., and is a graduate of the Uni versity of North Carolina and its Medical School. He is a member of Chi Phi, Phi Chi, Alpha Omega Alpha, honorary fraternity and Phi Beta Kappa. He is now a resi dent physician at Children’s Medi cal Center in Boston, Mass. After the ceremony the bride’s parents entertained at a receiptioci at the Forsyth Country club, Later the couple left for a wed ding trip. Fuller and Mrs. Keith Fleischman, who have recently moved here to make their home, and Mrs. Callie Gault of TJorth Augusta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Godfrey, Mrs. Watts Davis, Mrs. fceCTfbrd and Mrs. Godfrey entertanied at the Godfrey home with a drop-in Thursday morning. The entertaining rooms ^ere attractively decorated with vari colored roses, dahlias, gypsophal- ia and petunias. Entertaining in the dining room were Misses Kat Dicus, Georgia Young, Mrs. Mar vin Gault, Jr. Also assisting were Mrs. Lawrence Davis, Mrs. H. F. Blalock, Mrs. John T. Young, Mrs. N. Reese Young. During the morning assorted sandwiches, cookies, cheese straws and cold drinks were serv ed buffet style in the dining room. Out of town guests for the party were Mrs. Ejverette Poole and Miss Margaret Poole, of En- oree; Mrs. Robert Henry of El Paso, Texas, who is visiting here.
